Anybody get one yet? I think I can wait for a price drop next Christmas. For anyone who has one, what do you think of it?

I played my Cousin's Husband's DS. It was pretty neat. The only game really worth buying now though is Mario 64. But the Metroid Demo should keep you entertained. Just make sure you find other people with DSs.

A guy in my shop has one, and he doesn't seem too thrilled with it. He says the only reason he still has it is because he's waiting for the PSP to come out.

I'm happy with my Advance.

I was playing DS at Wal-Mart yesterday. It's very cool! And I really want The Urbz: Sims in the City for handheld, so the fact that it's made for DS is a plus. But really, PSP doesn't really interest me.

Both look interesting, but I think the PSP will hit a negative word of mouth road block with it's battery.
8 hours play, 4 hours music, 2 hours movie. It's not too bad if you ask me.

I want the PSP, but it's looking like I'm gonna wait to see what games come out for the PSP. The only handheld game I'm interested in is for the Advance... so I'm good.

Woah, not from what I hear.

4-6 for play, 4-5 for music, 2 hours for a movie. And the 4-6 is very liberal from what I hear. They have also said that the PSP battery life will be deppendent upon the developers, that's why Metal Gear Acid will be a card game and you won't see any huge action games that require streaming of media from the disk to the memory.

Oh man... didn't hear the drop in battery life. Hmmm... considering that's the thing I care most about in portables (that's why I'm getting a Rio Carbon instead of a IPod Mini), I may need to put more thought into all this.

From IGN (huge PSP lovers):

Sony Computer Entertainment has made measurements of the PSP's abilities, based on technical standards and in-game performance of work-in-progress games. On October 27, 2004, the company announced that the typical battery life for the PSP will be between 4 and 6 hours for games, with 4-5 hours for video viewing. These numbers, according to SCE, were determined with the system's luminance set to maximum (180 cd/m2) and minimum (80 cd/m2), volume set to half the maximum level, headphones used instead of speakers and wireless LAN not in use.

SCE has described its 1,800mAh battery to be able to power the unit for as long as typical battery-based portable electronics, which would include portable DVD and MP3 players as well as other game systems. At E3 2004 in May, SCE estimated the PSP's battery life to run between 2 1/2 and 10 hours. The PSP's various CPUs are scalable, and usage of the UMD disc drive may depend between different types of games and game engines.

I hate the DS. Played with it for about 10 min. before I got mad at it and walked away. IMHO I this the double screen is stupid and confusing. I cant wait for a psp!

I'd like to get a DS, but since handhelds are not a necessity, so to speak (I work at home, so there's no commuting), I can comfortably wait for the huge price drop that's sure to come.

As of now I doubt ANY stores have them. My step dad called Nintendo and they said they're backordered until February.

I have a DS with the Hunters demo, and I bought the Urbz. That game has hours of gameplay in it. I suggest the DS, if there are others to play with. It does get boring if you cant compete or chat I think. However I have one and so does my bro. He bought Super Mario 64 DS which is a souped up version of the original. I dont like the main game too much, but the multi is fun with only two players. Think of the madness with 4. The Hunters game is almost like Halo 1 with less weaponary. Its fun on a one on one. I also have Chain of Memories in the GBA slot. Good hardcore Disney game.
