In 2020, Illumination is set to release a Super Mario movie. For now, it is just a Super Mario movie. But in an alternate reality, it is the beginning of something much, much bigger, A Nintendo Cinematic Universe. Here I will be going over the films and major scenes in them. So, join me, as we begin the Nintendo Cinematic Universe.

It's a creative writing project. And at it's core, armchair Imagineering I creative writing projects.

Cinematic universes are sort of a gray area if we're getting technical, but this forum is about having fun and being creative (and sometimes a little bit competitive lol). Technicalities of forum rules have never really been a focus. So, cinematic universes are certainly welcome and often a really interesting read!

Can't wait to see what you do!

Well, I do have something in mind. A cinematic universe that ties in to the theme parks, and could serve as a replacement in Pirates is packing it in.

Today, we begin our tour through the Nintendo Cinematic Universe, this franchise will span 5 phases, today we look at what's in store in Phase 1.

Phase One:

Super Mario Brothers

In the far-away Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach has been kidnapped by the evil Bowser. In a call for help, the Toads summon 2 plumbers from Brooklyn, Mario and Luigi. And it's up to them to go through dozens of obstacles and rescue the princess.

The Legend of Zelda

A being known as Ganon is spreading darkness throughout the kingdom of Hyrule, and banished the princess Zelda away. A young warrior named Link sets off on a journey along with his mysterious friend, Sheik, to stop Ganon and his evil before all of Hyrule becomes darkness.

Kirby's Dream Land

All the food in the town of Dream Land has been stolen by the King Dedede. At the same time, a strange, new, creature named Kirby flies into Dream Land. Could he be the Star Warrior that the prophecy states will save Dream Land in times of need?

Donkey Kong Country

Donkey Kong is a gorilla that lives on DK Island and has hundreds on bananas. However, the evil King K. Rool has stolen all of his bananas overnight, and kidnapped his friend, Diddy Kong. And Donkey Kong will travel the island in order to get back his bananas.

Pokémon

A young boy named Red finally becomes 10, making him able to head out and catch creatures known as Pokemon. Along his journey, he will head into Pokemon battles with several rivals, teams, and legendary Pokemon.

Metroid

A space bounty hunter named Samus has crash landed on a planet named Zebes. She explores the strange planet, collecting new abilities, fighting aliens, and collecting parts to repair her ship.

Yoshi's Island

Yoshi's Island is an island that has dozens of Yoshis, which are multicolored dinosaurs. One day, a strange magician named Kamek swoops in and steals the Super Happy Tree, the source of happiness for Yoshis, and its up to a single green Yoshi to head out and stop Kamek.

Super Smash Brothers

A being known as Master Hand has captured heroes from throughout the universe. His goal is simple, have the strongest warriors there are fight.


Soon we'll begin looking at films individually with Super Mario Brothers!

This sounds promising, although the Donkey Kong description seems a little bit lacking. The Super Mario Bros. and Link are saving kingdoms, Samus is fighting for survival on a hostile planet, Kirby may be a prophecized hero, Red is going on a journey of adventure, discovery and growth. Donkey Kong is collecting bananas...XD

You know, I didn't really think about the cast for any of these movies, I just wanted to talk about the films. However, I have no idea who would play Meta Knight, except for Danny Devito, since he was the first guy to come to my mind.

Today we begin our fun little trip through the Nintendo Cinematic Universe, here we will be going into major scenes in these films. So, without further ado, let's begin!

Super Mario Brothers

A Loss, and a Find


The film opens with a shot of Princess Peach running through a hallway, with Toads running behind her.

"Princess, Bowser's airship is currently approaching the castle! What do you think we should do?"
"I think we should-"

A crashing boom shakes the hallway, there is a puff of some, and out of it steps Bowser.
"Stay away, she's coming with me."
The toads rush toward him, but dozens of Koopa Troopas rush in and take down the Toads, one of them escapes, but sees Bowser running away with the princess, hopping into a massive airship.

"Oh no. We're going to need some help."

The Toad runs throughout several hallways, before stopping at a door under a sign that says "WARP ZONE" and walking in, Toad walks past several tall, green pipes labeled with locations on them.

"Okay, where can I find someone that could help. This Brooklyn place might do the trick"

Toad hops into the pipe, the film cuts to a small, Brooklyn neighborhood. Toad jumps out of a manhole on the ground, Toad looks in both directions, before focusing on a van with the words

"Mario Brothers Plumbing!
Have a leak? We'll fix it!
555-288-9165"

The film cuts to the van, with a man in red overalls and a man in green overalls, named Mario and Luigi.

"Welp, Luigi, another day, another fix!"
"Yep! What a day, nothing but a normal, relaxing day from here!"
"Ahem, I need your help."
"Did you say that, Mario?"
"Behind you."
The brothers turn and see a strange, little, mushroom man. Naturally, they scream.
"Calm down, calm down! My name is Toad, I came from a faraway land named the Mushroom Kingdom, and the Princess, Peach has been kidnapped by an evil king named Bowser, I came in in need of a hero. Will you help me?"
"Why should I trust you, we can't do much."
"I believe you can, it's not that hard, there are several plants that should give you special powers."
"Alright, we can do it, are you ready, Luigi?"
"Sure."
"Alright, here we go."
