everyone neat and pretty?
Good.
So, i want to return in March for my 7th visit; my fifth since 2002.
And this time, I want to take my brother who hasn't been since waaaay back in 97.
It's pretty impossible to explain to him how things have changed since then. Given that he's never stayed on property, even riding the monorail will be new, let alone things like Boardwalk, or expanding downtown, or animal kingdom.
Mission Space was just the foolish dream of a boy enjoying Dream Flight too much for his teen years and Fast Pass; why, it could never happen, could it?
Anyway, the question is: For someone returning for the first time in nine years, what do you think will hit them most? Will it be the sheer change; new attractions; or something harder to gauge, like memories, smells, or nooks and crannies. Up and at 'em, pal.
Let me know, and I'll pass it onto him. Let's get him excited - can you believe he's dragging his feet on the whole seeing the mouse thing! Why I oughta....

I think it will be like going to WDW for the first time - only one or two things will seem strangely familiar. Give him time to soak up the atmosphere.

Yes, anyone please add to this thread. I'm in the same boat, but Casey, I have got you beat. My last trip to WDW was in August 1993 but I did visit Disneyland in June 1999. Still, though, a decade plus two does not do a body good missing out on WDW. My hope is to go sometime soon, or early 2006.

Try talking about the other more adult things you can do, like the ESPN club, Pleasure Island and celebrating New Year's eve there every night of the week, etc., it might help in dispelling the thought that he has that disney is for kids.

The worst piece of propaganda that has ever been used against Disney.

But shoppingnut is right. Tell him about all the spots for adults like the Boardwalk and PI, and about all the new thrill rides (Test Track, Mission: Space, Rock n' Roller Coaster, Dinosaur, Expedition Everest.) Many people think of Disney World as just the Magic Kingdom. Reinforce the countless things that WDW has outside the parks. And don't worry, he'll turn around once he has some fun. Good luck!
