Okay, this isn't a Disney game per say, but it's design is headed by Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Ponyo, Howl's Moving Castle, etc.), whom Disney has distributed stateside.

Let me tell you: This. Game. RULES!!!

The art design is nothing short of spectacular, the voice acting is great (better than even Disney's translations), the music is amazing, and the story is just pure Ghibli goodness. Even the gameplay is pretty engaging. Seriously, check it out! I'm surprised this forum isn't talking about it.

Also, this game has convinced me that Disney NEEDS to put out a game of this calibur: an original tale designed by Disney Feature Animation.

Well, I thought it looked good, but I read in a video game magazine that the gameplay was really crappy, so I didn't buy it. Is the play really that bad?

Not really, it's just the AI can be a bit hectic at times. It's really engaging and makes the battles somewhat tension-filled.

Cool! I'll probably rent it before I buy it though.
How will you rent it? Gamefly? Rental Store? If the latter, I'm not sure; Ni No Kuni (despite the attention it's receiving) isn't exactly a high demand title like Mass Effect or Devil May Cry.

Didn't realize there was a NNK thread.

This game is quite amazing, and really the fact that it ever got made is incredible. If you liked the RPG's of 15~20 years ago and can imagine something like that, but on modern hardware without any limitations, that is what this game is like. I had forgotten how much fun it was to leave a town, look out over the landscape, and say "hey lets see what is beyond that mountain range" or "how do I get there?" etc. It really captures exploration and adventure well. If you played DQVIII it is exactly like that, but Ghibli instead of Toriyama. And HD.

The combat could be better (I'd prefer it if it was a little slower and required more strategy/planning) and some of the almost realistic backgrounds clash with the beautifully cell-shaded characters. Minor nitpicks considering how awesome the rest of it is.
