Next trip

So we just got back from a 14 day stay at the world (staying POFQ which we loved) and we’re now looking at our next time.

We always said we’d do every 2 years (coming from the UK cost is ridiculous so more often isn’t happening) however with SW opening next autumn, 2020 will be the first summer it’s open so it could be crazy. We could wait till 2021 but then it’s the anniversary in the Oct and I’m concerned a few rides/ areas will be closed as they prepare for it.

When would people look at going next?

I see you stayed at POFQ we will be staying in May 2019 was wondering what you thought of the refurbished rooms and over all likes and dislikes of POFQ. We plan on going some time in 2022, thinking the crowds will die down a little. It really depends on when the 50th starts.

The FQ is beautiful. The size is great as it's so small compared to all other resorts (especially as we have a 5 and 6 year old with us). The pool is great, the Floatworks do a good selection of food (QS only) but if you want a little more then POR is only a 10 min walk away. The refurb rooms are a little plain (mainly white walls, bedding, etc...) but done to a good standard. USB plugs all over the room, nice enough bathrooms, huge TV. I honestly cannot think of anything I dislike.

Oh also worth mentioning that as it only has 1 bus stop its great! Reduces travelling time a fair bit as you don't have to trawl around other stops before being on your way.

I don't live in the UK and I think Disney is ridiculously expensive.

If you're stuck with a summer trip, then I'd say 2020 is going to be better then 2021 only because people will be flocking to WDW during their 50th anniversary.

If your group is crowd-sensitive, and if Star Wars will be a 'must-do' for you, then I would push it to the later date (2021). The crowds surrounding HS for Star Wars will be stifling for the first year.

I think trying to predict when certain rides will be down is a fruitless exercise. There will always be attractions closed for refurbishments unless you're going at the busiest time of the year (Xmas into New year's).

Generally speaking, if you're trying to pick the least crowded time, the trade-off will be more rides down for refurbishment.

That does open the possibility of maybe a California Trip in 2020 then and a return to the world in 2022. I completely agree about SW, I think it will be CRAZY like we've never seen and it being the first summer (albeit the last 2 weeks in August so a 'quieter' time) could mean its just not sensible. That would also mean we got to see the 50th celebrations as well (assuming they go on for the year).

I think that's an awesome idea, but also consider that Disneyland is also opening a clone of the Star Wars addition, which could have an even bigger impact than the one in Orlando. Assuming that's what you meant by California?

Indeed I did mean Disneyland but hadn’t even considered that the SW effect could be greater for Cali due to size! Decisions decisions!
