I just recieved a copy of the release given to Employees about whats going on with Space Mountain...

Disneyland 50th Anniversary to Feature Relaunch Of Space Mountain...

Announced April 10, Space Mountain will be redesigned and relaunched in conjunction with the Disneyland 50th Anniversary in 2005. Construction will begin immediately and additions such as new special effects, digital technology, an intergrated audio sound system and a completely revamped queue will provide a new level of excitement to Space Mountain.

This is exciting news for the Disneyland Resort and just one of the many elements that will add to the magic of the 50th anniversary.

Just thought you all might be interested. I know how many people are upset by this closure, but things need to be revamped and redone, and there is never a "good" time to do these things.
When I made my first visit to DL, Most of the major attractions were down, but I still had the best time, and looked forward to many more visits. The 50th anniversary should be fantastic! I personally cant wait!:sohappy:

Thanks for sharing. I am glad for the massive rehab. I have always loved SM. I was there in the beginning. I think this massive overhaul will be great for the ride, give an old E-Ticket a whole new face lift.

We get ToT in 2004 and a revamped SM in 2005. PLus new parades and who knows what else for the 50th. I think DL will be on a great roll.

Maybe there is some pixie dust left.

Hey Tigggrl,
Tried finding you yesterday when I visited the resort but couldn't catch you.

I look forward to the new SM, but I was hoping they'd do something that incorporated the Peoplemover station. O well.

Thanks for posting, Tigggrl! And good to hear from you! By the way, I just found out that I'll be doing a training class in a couple of weeks INSIDE DISNEYLAND!! I'm so jazzed even though I have no idea where inside the park I could be doing this class (sorta hoping it's in Club 33)! Anyway, if I have an opportunity I'll try to track you down.

It will be great to see a revamped Space Mountain. It is my favorite DL attraction so I hope they keep the same style of rockets and track layout (I don't think it's necessary to add a loop or turn the rockets into a standard roller coaster train). But new special effects will be great to see. I've always thought it would be great if they would turn the Starcade area into the queue so that would free up the entire mountain itself for just the ride. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
