Apparently these pins are just like baseball cards. They have initial value, but can also increase in price, and be traded. Why not make a game out of them. Like yu-gi-oh. Something with a twist, and a little bit of stragety involved? That would definately incerase pin sales.
It's fun, but it can be expensive. Not necessarily for each pin, but the total amount that you can spend on filling your lanyard. We had never done the pin thing until our last trip 2 years ago. We thought then 9 year old might enjoy it.
Before our trip, we went to the Disney store to buy a lanyard and have a few to give to him when we arrived at WDW. And before we knew it, one of his favorite things to do was to buy and trade pins, especially with the CM's in the parks. Thank goodness, the in-laws were with us and if their first grandson wanted a pin, then he got a pin. (They will be with us again in October and I don't want to hear any "in-law" jokes!)
This pin trading stuff sounds fun. I was going to get some last time I went to WDW because I saw some really cool pins I would want. I didn't though because of prices. My question is, What if you don't want to trade? I'll just buy the pins I want and keep them. I don't want a million people running up to me and say " Can I have that one?" How do I politely say no? And do most attractions have pins for them? Like does Splash Mountain have a Brer Rabbit Stitch and POTC have pirate ones? Thanks for the info!
I would say keep you pins you don't want to trade at home...or off of your lanyard. It would keep you out of that situation. Or...just simply tell them that you don't want to trade that one.
Allright, I looked in my attic and found two Disney buttons. Both of them are 1993 Character Dining Buttons at the Disneyland Hotel. One is Alladin and the other is Pinocchio. Can anyone tell me what they are worth, or any other information?
I have seen buttons on ebay, and they do not seem as collectible as pins. I have seen auctions with prices ranging from $1-$5. Can't say what the final bid was on these though.
I just bought my first pins yesterday. I purchased both military insigia setsfrom the Disney store, they are really cool pins. Just wanted to let you guys know.
We got into pin trading last year. We now have over 150 pins. It's a lot of fun though.
Another great site to view pins on is PinPics where you can seach through thousands of Disney pins and accessories. Membership is free and you don't have to join to search through the pins.
I have returned from the trip with six lanyard pins three LE and a bunch of NBC pins. I purchased 20 pins on the trip add that to the ten pins in the military insignia set I own 30 pins. And more to come in the near future.
