New Years in the Magic Kingdom

Just returned from WDW on Jan 8, 2013 from staying there for New Years with my family. Drove there on Dec 28th from Long Island. Stayed at the Coronado Springs Resort Ranches. Great place by the way. Met up with friends from Texas....Their daughters first time, very Magical! wanted to add extra time at WDW so we stitched together different places to stay when we were in our trip planning stages. So we added 1 night at our Vacation Club (Animal Kingdom) then we were able to make 3 nights at the new Art of Animation Resort. Anyway New Years Eve was crowded to say the least. We went early Hareakfast at the Castle. We paced ourselves throughout the day. At Midnight we found a place to stay in Liberty Square and watched the fireworks over the "Hall of Presidents". Seemed very Patriotic! Then the party started....about 200 people in Liberty Square just started to dance in unison. It felt like a "flash mob" arrived and started to dance together. We tried leaving about 1:30 am and didn'tt back to the Coronado until 3am. Took the Monorail and a bus to get out of there. Each year I say never again....This was out 5th New Years in WDW.

We are the same way but we were there 12/26-1/3 .... I remember 2 years ago at Epcot Soarin had a 385 min wait! We saw people laying on the lawns... it became all about watching the crowds..!
So this year we spent the day at Animation Resort went to the park at 11:30 watched the fireworks from the back of the Magic Kingdom, hopped on a monorail to Contemporary Resort and got on a Bus to Hollywood for EMHs. Got back to the room at 4am. I remember several times this New Years Season the park closed to regular guests because it was over capacity. I think the reason we keep going back is we just don't mind if we do not ride everything... WE are flexible when we are there and we are just happy to be part of the magic.

385 minutes! That's insane! I get impatient during 30 minute waits.
