New Year's Eve???

Hello- This is my first post here :)
There has been talk in my home about a possible New Year's Eve trip.
I personally think it's out of the question because of prices and crowds and DS(12) would need to miss a day or 2 of school and that makes me incredibly uncomfortable.
DH really wants to go and says not to worry about the $ or the school time. DS(19) and DS(12) are also on board with going. They really really like their Disneyworld trips.
Am I crazy for considering this? I have been hearing a small voice saying "You should go...What an experience it would be!"
So I ask you... what do we do? Any thoughts welcome.
BTW - We have experienced July 4th crowds. How does July 4th compare with New Year's crowds?

We are going for the first time for new years this year too. I've been told that the crowds are unbelievable at Magic Kingdom and big in Epcot and Hollywood but it seems to be better at Epcot b/c it is bigger more space for all the people. We are going to get there around 2pm and jump from park to park for that icon picture and end up in Epcot for dinner and the fireworks over the countries...they do them in order of when they would have hit midnight saying the USA, Canada, and Mexico for last from what I've read. I have a school age child as well and I tend to pull him out around some days off but not during breaks b/c we never be able to afford to go during peak times. School is important but so is experiencing new things with family.

i would say do it if your ok with long lines and having to make sacrifices in terms of the amount you get done and parks closing to capacity. i think its a wonderful idea though because your kids and husband seem so enthused about the trip, which at new years, says a lot! its really up to you.

Ive been to The world 3 times for new years. All 3 times i have gone to Epcot and have entered the park a a bit after opening. That day all Parks will hit level 4 capacity. Except for Epcot because of its size. If you love to dance Epcot is the place to be plus they have a wicked fireworks. Crowds are big but you are there all day so waiting in the lines is a given. If you want to be at the MK for new years get there early very early. Hey its new years. Have fun and don't let the crowds bother you. Its expected and you know what your going in for. The experience to celebrate new years on the happiest place on earth. Hope this helped.
