Information about New Year's Eve at Downtown Disney this year. I apologize if this has been posted. I did a search and didn't find anything.

On December 31, Downtown Disney will be celebrating New Year's Eve with incredible shopping, dining, and entertainment experiences. Shopping and dining hours for Downtown Disney Marketplace has been extended till midnight.
  • Entertainment will be featured from 6:30pm to midnight.
    • DJ Kids Dance Party at the Waterside Stage at the Marketplace
    • Variety Entertainment in front of Adventurers Club at PI
    • PI Live DJ Host
    • Nova Era Classical Musical Trio in front of Fulton's Crab House
    • Musical Entertainment in front of Virgin Megastore and in front of Wetzel's Pretzels on the West Side
  • DisneyQuest is open till 10:00pm.
  • Cirque du Soleil will celebrate the New Year at both the 6pm and 9pm shows.

Downtown Disney will not host fireworks this year. The Walt Disney World Resort will offer fabulous fireworks displays at the Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, and Disney's Hollywood Studios.

I wonder what the "variety entertainment" in front of the Adventurers Club will be ...

I'm not sure but somehow I think they will include Stitch in some way.

Eh, nice try, but there is no reason to go celebrate anything in that area anymore. It sounds rather lame but I guess it may work for those guests stuck on property who rather not be in a crowded park.

Fireworks are expensive. I guess dj's and dance floors are too since they got the axe at Epcot. Overall it seems that Disney is ringing in new year with little to no pagentry.

Dominic Gaudious is one of the performers scheduled to perform at Downtown Disney West Side. He is an excellent guitarist and plays the Australian didgeridoo as well. Well worth seeing.

Funny thing is I thought it was always open until 10pm.
It is unless it's super busy peak periods. Saw midnight closings during the summer a few years back. It's like Disney is advertising that - indeed - we haven't cut back the hours of operation for Quest. Yet.

You know, the tag line for this celebration should really be "What Will You Cut Back Next?"

Uhm, sorry to contradict a fellow Adventurer, but actually they have. Confirmed with a CM over the weekend. DQ used to be open routinely until 11 on weeknights, midnight on Friday/Saturday. That changed permanently some time in the past couple weeks to 10 and 11. They quietly cut the hours.
