There is a high-energy pyrotechnic display in Sunshine Plaza at midnight and if you’re looking for great music and want to dance the night away, there are three different dance parties to celebrate the countdown to midnight:

• Power 106 at the Hollywood Backlot Stage is hosting a dance club from 9:30p.m. to 1:00a.m. and promises to blow the roof off.
• You can break out your salsa, samba and popular Latin dance moves at a waterfront club at the Pacific Wharf hosted by DJs from 107.1 KSEE-FM Super Estrella from 9:30p.m. to 1:00a.m.
• If the hottest dance hits from the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s are more your style, then check out the DJs from 104.3 MYfm at Stage 17 near Sunshine Plaza from 9:00p.m. to 1:00a.m.

Can’t decide on just one dance party at Disney’s California Adventure park? I’m told you can bounce from one to another.
In case you’re interested, here’s a look at what’s happening at Disneyland park:

• “Fantasy in the Sky” fireworks kicks off the new year at 12:00a.m. in the skies above Disneyland park.
• There’s a Mardi-Gras-style party with live music at the Rivers of America at 8:00p.m., 9:45p.m., 11:00p.m. and 11:45p.m.
• Doc Anello and the Swing Machine perform at Plaza Gardens Stage at 7:30p.m., 8:45p.m., 9:50pm, 11:00pm and 12:15a.m.
• Mickey, Minnie and a DJ will be hosting a party at Sleeping Beauty’s Winder Castle from 9:00p.m. to 12:00a.m.
• The band Surburban Legends rocks Tomorrowland in Tomorrowland Terrace at 8:30p.m., 10:00p.m., 11:00p.m., 11:45p.m. and 1:00a.m.

Today only, Disney’s California Adventure visitors are getting free passes that can be used at Disneyland later in January.

Parking:

Expect the usual parking hassles in and around the Disneyland Resort, so plan to get there early. Downtown Disney will begin charging a $20 flat rate parking fee somewhere around 5:00 to discourage people from using that lot as a short-term lot just so they can pop in and see the fireworks. If you obtain validation from a sit-down restaurant or the AMC theater you can obtain a REFUND of that fee if you show your paid parking reciept and validation stamp to the Valet Booth, but you will still be subjected to the fee upon entry.

The trams to and from the Mickey & Friends parking structure will be extremely busy immediately after each fireworks show - plan to wait it out or walk back to M&F. To speed boarding of the trams, guests who use wheelchairs or need other assistance will be directed to a dedicated queue near the picnic area, and will use the accessible shuttle van back to the structure instead of boarding the trams.

Land / Area closures:

Mickey's Toontown will close for the evening around 8:30pm, and will not reopen.

A Bugs Land will close for the evening around 9:30pm, and will not reopen.

Hat and Horn distribution locations:

Disneyland - Festival Arena in Frontierland, starting at 7pm.

DCA - Condor Flats and in front of the Paradise Pier gate, starting at 7pm.

Midnight countdown locations:

Disneyland

• Sleeping Beauty Castle
• Tomorrowland Terrace
• Rivers of America
• “it’s a small world” Mall

DCA

• Sunshine Plaza
• Hollywood Boulevard
• Pacific Wharf

Downtown Disney

• Midnight countdown from Disneyland will be played through area speakers.

Midnight fireworks locations:

Disneyland - usual location in the skies above Disneyland park
DCA - launching from the roof of "A Bug's Life," best viewed from the Sunshine Plaza

Update 12/29: The Disneyland Web site has been updated with "New Year's Eve Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks" in Disneyland and "Countdown to Midnight Fireworks"in DCA, both showing at 11:30pm. I don't know if this is because the Disney Web site can't publish a midnight showing without it pushing the event into the next day's entertainment schedule (I seem to remember in previous years the midnight fireworks were actually listed as being the next morning), or if they've really moved the show(s) up.

Me too! I wanted the Tiana's Showboat one too but that was only around for a week.

DCA's seems to have gotten a pretty positive NYE review this year even with its smaller firework show, its very party/nightclub like atmosphere with 3 countdown locations/dance parties, some small flame throwers and an ice bar seems to have won some people over instead of an over packed DL. Heres hoping DCA can keep improving in the years to come with the WOC tech and Paradise Park.

Its also great to see DL finally! got the NYE fireworks off with out any stong winds like 08 or very heavy fog in 09.:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:
