Last year we spent New Years at Epcot and it was amazing, next year when we go back (sooo excited!!!!! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: ) we want to try to get into MK for New Years, but we were wondering, what MGM like on New Years? Is Fantasmic on or is there some special show? Anything done?

Last year MGM did a special fireworks show titled "Lights, Camera, Fireworks", and in the past NYE's they did "Sorcery in the Sky"......so im assuming they will have NYE fireworks this year.

Fantasy in the Sky (w/ New Year tag) will be performed on both Dec 30 & 31. So you can go see MK on the 30th and go to MGM on NYE to see "Lights, Camera, Fireworks. That way, you can see both shows.

I haven't been to MGM for NYE in over 3 years, but when I did they had mini dance parties set up around the park with DJ's and/or live bands. One was at the Indy stunt show, another was inside Playhouse Disney's building, another was held somewhere back on New York Street and another in front of the Sorcery Hat on Hollywood Blvd. There were extra showings of Fantasmic that night and then the fireworks at midnight which were pretty good imo. As with the other parks, they hand out free hats and noise-makers. In fact, I plan on spending NYE at MGM this year again. I've been at Epcot for the past 3 years which has been awesome each year, but I'm ready to do something different this year.

I've heard the MK is miserable on NYE because of the crowds. Of course the other parks are busy, but MK always closes to capacity earlier on in the day. As mentioned above, you can see MK's NYE show on the 30th as well. I plan on seeing that show on the 30th myself and then heading to MGM on the 31st.

Did MGM three years ago for NYE. Fireworks and atmosphere was very, very special. - Worth doing.
Went to MK two years ago, fireworks were fantastic and fabulous, couldn't be bettered. The crowds were also wonderful and fabulous, swaying and singing, better than Times Square, better than Trafalgar Square (that's in London, oh American cousins), highly recommend MK. -Except that there's no alcohol.

one of these days im going to get down there for NYE since it is my birthday. yep, everything is always closed on my birthday around here, so i guess i need to head south with the birds.

i think MGM and Epcot would be the best.... less kiddies. oh, and Epcot you could have some adult beverages in World Showcase

The family and I did New Years at the Disney-MGM Studios last year, and it was without a doubt one of the best New Years we've ever had. The atmosphere was great, the cover band that performed all night at "the hat" was amazing, and the fireworks were fantastic. Great party atmosphere for the adults, but not too "adult" as to still make it family friendly. I highly recommend it. :)

That pretty much sums up the way I saw MGM for NYE back when I saw there in 2001.

I'm hoping I'll be at one of the parks for NYE this year, but that all depends on my Vols and if they can show up on offfense for the rest of the season

I did New Year's Eve at the studios back in the mid-90s and remember having a great time. Though I did hate the mass exodus immediately after midnight. You could barely move because of the amount of people.

This got me wondering. Animal Kingdom doesn't do anything special for New Year's Eve do they?
