I've finally convinced the entire family to travel to Florida (from Newfoundland, Canada) for this holiday season! We're planning to be in Disney for New Years... a life long dream of mine. I haven't been to Disney World in over 7 years and I can't wait to return!

We're looking to stay in the Orlando area for a week and would like to stay in a unit complete with 2 bedroom/kitchen/etc type. Can anyone recommend a nice place moderately priced, but not too far from Disney World?

This is my first post, but I think I'll be around for a while, as I'll be trying to get the most of our vacation this Christmas & New Years!!!

THANKS!

Plenty of "extended stay" hotels are in the LBV area.....but do not expect any great deals over the holidays.

Check out Expedia or Hotels.com, that would be a good starting place.

^^ Good suggestion. Double Tree has suites inside the resort, on Hotel Plaza Blvd., outside of downtown Disney, with Transportation to the parks. It's very nice. check out the double tree site. there are also other hotels around there, just go to expedia.com or something. GOOD LUCK! HAVE FUN!

I would recommend the Sheraton Vistana Villages but it is a bit pricey....however, you do have to understand that the type of setup you're looking for isn't going to be "moderately priced" during a holiday period like New Years.

I've been down there for new year's many times when my cousin lived in Orlando and been to the parks on new year's eve. The parks will be extremely crowded and MK will probably close the gates by mid morning (they will be at capacity by that time and not allow any more folks in) and the MK parking lot will be full. So, if you want to be in MK for NYE, I would suggest that you just plan to go early in the morning and stay all day, don't leave the park because you might not get back in, even if you were thinking of eating at a monorail hotel. Make your PS arrangments ASAP for that day.

Each park has different entertainment going on, MGM usually has something on NY Streets and by the Hat. I remember seeing Davy Jones, Peter Noon and Bobby Sherman one year on NY streets and they had a DJ by the hat and everyone was dancing. They do fireworks at MGM, Epcot and MK on NYE, but not AK because of the animals. At PI there will be some headliner entertainment, but that is a separate ticketed event that costs about $100/per person.
