On our daily update sheet today, i read that Vacation Club Way will be closed between BVD and OKW main gate on Tues, Wed, and Thurs, between 7am and 3:30 pm, from now until Sept. because the new treehouses are being delivered (in prefab sections) during these times. All Saratoga traffic will have to use the aux. gate during the closure. Someone try to get some pics if you can.

Great news. I imagine if they are prefab units we could see these opening early next year.
Are the buses being rerouted as many of them use Vacation Club Way to get to Marketplace.

yes, all traffic is being rerouted during the closures. Hence why it is on our update sheet.

We just returned from a quick get-away at SSR. We stayed in the Grandstand section in a villa on the fourth floor of the building facing the 17th fairway of LBVGC. We could easily see over the fence into the area of the treehouse villas and noticed the amount of site prep that was going on. It looked like a lot of groundwork, drainage and concrete work.

I rented a boat just a couple of days ago, the only thing left of the old treehouse villa's is the concrete center column and the steel frame for the floors. Didn't have my camera, i'll try to get a pic later...

We were told during recent stay at POR by boat captain that Disney was rebuilding treehouses but would have to use the already present supports and foundations as the government won't allow new expanded digging in these "protected" areas. Disney's Reedy Creek oversight is not as "all-encompassing" as when original construction was done, I guess. I take most comments from Disney transportation personel with a grain of salt, but for some reason I kept this castmember's commentary in the back of my head. Thanks for jogging it loose!

That is only partly true. The new structures will have new foundations and support coloumns.

Actually, the footprint of the new treehouses will be smaller than the old ones. Thus, creating more wetlands.

Those are all new. In late june/july they were pouring the concrete for some and some were still just empty lots. I think that they were all timber (wood) construction in their former life and used no steel in the support structure.

Step Lightly

The construction in the photos looks new, but what is missing is any construction equipment or evidence of it. I wouldn’t be surprised if these buildings are being fabricated elsewhere and just show up one morning. It looks like they are being very careful with the disrupting the site.

Is that a protected "wetland" or does it have to do with ordinances that do not allow "new" building in a designated flood plain? I believe it is because it's in a 100 year flood zone.

There was some construction equipment there when we went in July and took these photos--looked like they were mostly destructing the old ones still. It was very hard getting pictures since there are so many trees--most of my pictures you really couldn't see anything other than trees.
