New Transportation to MGM and AK

I have heard rumors here about a possible light rail that would link MGM and AK to Epcot. I have to say, you can ride a bus anywhere in the country...no Disney Magic there, you could say the same thing for a light rail system. I know they claim expense as a problem for a monorail....so why not a peoplemover system, they could make a expanded system like the pre-Epcot plans called for. Does anyone here know the cost comparison between the monorail and a peoplemover. Thinking about that it seems like the system would need two seperate tracks, one from Epcot to MGM and another from MGM to AK. Any thoughts?

I could see Disney putting a light rail in. Just the other week I saw a clearing east of MGM off of World drive that would lead to the AK area --- get your hopes up!

Here we go again lol....

Yeah if you do a quick search on monorail expansion u will find one of the longest threads on here.

Basically it isnt going to happen for a number of years, if at all.

what is a lightrail? any different from a monorail?

Oye. Read the monorail threads. Lightrail = trains, mostly on the ground. Still not ideal for WDW's traffic pattern, but a lot less expensive than the monorail, and therefore more likely than a monorail extension.

I heard a rumor from a CM loading people on Peter Pan that Disney's next transportation system will be using the transporters from Star Trek. Its true! A CM told me, it has to be right!

And people are afraid to use the biometric scanners.

Why go trekkie? I always felt that the next transportation system from MGM to AK should be a giant circus cannon that shot guests out of MGM and into a giant net strung between two trees at conservation station. :lookaroun

What would you do about the winds though? If theres a nice hurricane nearby you could have a big problem!

. Never though about those nasty things. But then again if a hurricane did come along Disney would probably think of something (a new e-ticket attraction). Same thing with massive inland floods (brand new e-ticket).

How about removing the flower cart that Lucky the dinosaur is towing and strapping on a few dozen TTA ride cars. Could you imagine the glares of the people travelling down World Drive. :p
