New to cruising

Hi everyone. I've been a member here for a little while but haven't had any vacations for a while so haven't posted much.

My family and I are new to cruising. We'll be taking our first Disney cruise next year on the Wish. I know the ship is still relatively new and not a lot of history to begin with but in trying to research historical activities, etc I can't seem to find even paper copies of things that people have shared online. It seems like Disney is really, very heavily pushing using technology. I am not tech savvy and while I have downloaded the DCL app, half the time it doesn't seem like it wants to work. I don't know if it's just me not knowing what to do, my devices or Disney with their glitch problems. I have both an iPad and an Android phone but the iPad is over 5 years old now (but still updating) and the phone is actually a pay as you go phone so not the most expensive of ones out there. I just replaced the phone and I don't really want to have to get new devices just for the cruise as here at home, both devices do what I need them to so here's my question. What happens if my tech decides to not work while on the cruise? I had that happen one year in Disney World on me. Luckily it wasn't a big deal but it was extremely frustrating. For a cruise though it seems like it will be a much bigger deal if it happens.

Thanks for any tips/insights/etc.

I’m not the most seasoned cruiser, but I’ll try to help the best that I can! I know Disney Cruise Line blog has past personal navigators of activities on the ships, including the Wish. I always like looking at these as it helps me get an idea what I could potentially expect on my next cruise. Here is the direct link: https://disneycruiselineblog.com/personal-navigators/ .

From what I understand, you can get paper copies of the daily schedules from Guest Services for each day of the cruise.

Thank you everyone for the replies. I will board the ship with the plans of hitting guest services for paper copies of whatever I can get and if I need the technology for something and it works, I'll be very happy. If not, I'll just go back to guest services and see what they can do to help.

Honestly, the only thing you should need your phone for is the daily schedule as you will have a key for your stateroom. On my first cruise, I was stressing myself out checking the app all the time for the schedule. On my next cruise next year, I am already planning on not stressing myself out about the app.
