New Resort Categories?

It started with only expensive Deluxes. Then spread into the Moderates. Then we welcomed the Values. (Campground always there.)

With prices going up every (every few) years, ever think a new category could become, either below Value or maybe even ABOVE Deluxe??

I remember when the Moderates were asking for the prices of the Values way back $89/ night!!! We could not stay in a Deluxe b/c 200plus per night was outrageous, now we pay this much at the Moderates during special Christmas and peak times.

Any new categories in the works?

With the (near) completion of Pop Century, I doubt that a new hotel is in the works for a while.

There is a somewhat informal extra pricing tier between the moderates and deluxes because AKL and WL are less than YB/BC, BW, etc.

You could also make the case for Polynesian and GF being "super deluxe" because of their higher prices.

I tend to think of "deluxe" as being 3 separate pricing categories.

Some trivia--WL was originally intended to be a moderate, which explains in part why the rooms are smaller. But Disney is a business (for which they need not apologize), and WL was priced at what the market would bear, which was lower-tier deluxe.

As of right now, there isn't even any discussion going on as to when the Pop Century resort's other half will be completed. Any new resorts will most likely be Vacation CLub as rooms have been removed form inventory right now and the remaining ones still arent filled.

Bob Iger also mentioned in a discussion with investors that they were looking at bringing back the 7 nights for the price of 4 scenario for next year. The would put the value resorts at around 60 bucks a night for non peak times. Thats not too far from what off prperty resorts charge.
