New Park Theme?

I've been wondering about this for quite a while, and I was wondering if anyone had any other sparks of inspiration... Let's say Disney was going to build a new theme park with an original theme, can anyone think of some themes that could be?

Now I don't mean parks like Westcot, which is clearly inspired by Epcot, or an American DisneySea or Port Disney, which are inspired by Tokyo DisneySea. I'm after unique themes for parks that haven't been built.

Through discussion I've found some of these themes;

Disney's America, themed to America (obviously) and considered by Disney back in the early 1990s.

Villain Park, based on the Disney villains and being a kind of inverse Magic Kingdom.

Mythology Park, based on world folklore and including things like Egypt land, China land, Viking land etc.

Music Park, I'm very doubtful of this myself as being a viable theme, especially when Disney has no substantial music industry position and most rides for this could be put in the Studios, but a Hard Rock Park was built so...

Sports Park, another I'm very doubtful. What rides are there meant to be... a ride where you're a tennis ball?

Disney's Floridian Adventure, yet another I'm doubtful of. Florida doesn't have the same richness as California, and with the troubles California Adventure had I doubt they'd want to repeat the theme.

Disney's European Adventure, based on Europe (and apparently considered for Disneyland Paris). I guess this could work.

So beyond these, can anyone else think of original park themes? I'd love to here some original, workable ideas.

I would love either a Disney's America, Villian or Mythological themed park. Wow! i tried designing a park called Disney's European Adventure before, had no clue about that it really was a concept at one time.

PS. love your website The Neverland Files

Disney's Toyland.

Think about it - a pinch of Toy Stories 1, 2, and 3; a dash of Winnie the Pooh (the storybook aspects), and a whole general flavor of Babes in Toyland - and you could build a great park (one with lots of potential ride sponsors).

Plus, with the Toymaker's Workshop as the castle, it's the perfect place for the signature Christmas celebration.

I relle like the Toyland Idea...But most of all i think that the Floridian Adventure would be something pretty cool to have. they just cant screw it up like they did with California Adventure in Disneyland than decide to close everything to fix all the problems...lol

Yeah, I don't think they were calling it that, but it was along those lines. Apparently its meant to like the World Showcase part of Epcot, but with European countries, and with a lot less focus on real world travel information and more on folk stories, literature and things like that. Disney needs to build a third park in Paris in the next decade or they lose a big chunk of their land ... from what I've heard they might be dusting off their Lava Lagoon plans and getting their lawyers to argue that a waterpark counts as the third theme park. (And thanks for the compliment for my website =])

Okay.. so suggestions have been a Pixar park, a Toyland park and a Floridian Adventure park...

I think I can juuust see a Pixar park working. What have they got to work with... Toy Story, A Bugs Life, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, Wall-E, Up ...
They made a whole bugs life land at DCA (hmm.. maybe miniland is more appropriate). But do the pixar films have enough source material for a theme park? A good DIsney park seems to have at least 40 attractions. Can eight film (franchises) provide that? Five attractions each? And what about big E-tickets as well? An Incredibles E-ticket is doable, midway mania for toy story, an EAC finding nemo ride... Oh, and there's carsland as well. I guess it could work. (That was me thinking out loud there lol).

I'm not sure about the other two though. Mkeeler, I think you hit the nail right on the head when you said Walt picked five themes that really resonate with people, and the other parks are just expansions on that, but I don't think a Toyland idea would work. A Toy Story land like the one coming to the paris studios is obviously workable, and I think a 100 acre wood land could work too. Babes in Toyland not so much, and i dont think the toymakers workshop would work as the icon either... From what I'm thinking, all the Disney immitators and cheap mall miniparks try to go for a toyland theme and there's a reason why it doesnt work. Still, a toy story land and 100 acre wood work.. so there could be something to it.

Floridian Adventure im totally wary of. Does florida really have enough to it to equal california and provide a theme park theme at least as workable as the (initially dubious) california one? A california park in california was a bad idea to many people... a florida park in florida?? Out of curiousity, do you have any suggestions as to the lands? All I can think is an Everglades area (which I can't imagine having too many ride possibilities) and, I guess, a NASA area. Are there other possibilities I'm not thinking of?

Oh! And one park I initally missed out ... apparently a Legoland was considered for WDW for a while, which could have worked.

I never thought about Toy's as a theme for a park or land, as being a good idea. But a few things here are starting to sway me to be honest. It would suit a land (basically Toyland), with the tie-ins already mentioned, but not a park.

However I'd like to see a "European Showcase" for Disneyland Paris - not necessarily as a full themepark, but as something different - a change of pace for the theme parks at the resort. Not sure how it would fit in.
