The Sun is also on California Screamin’ so it’s not referencing either actual version of Paradise Pier. If anything, it shows the nonsensical nature of the “Disney” branding. That's a definite DCA 1.0 design. The Sun Wheel is in it.
Not sure why they would ship it out there. I don't know why Disney does a lot of things.
Thoughts?
It's just a hidden reference to make DLR fans happy.
It's not supposed to be an actual Advertisement/Representation for the current day Paradise pier.

That has to be one of the weirdest things WDI has pulled in years. It would be like putting up an advertisement for Rocket Rods in the Test Track queue. Just... weird.
That looks like the model that was on display in the Blue Sky Cellar. It's particularly weird in conjunction with this.
You could say the unknowing guest will have no idea it's a land in DL, but about a month ago, they installed a Paradise Pier model in Walt Disney Presents, in DHS. It's in a "parks around the world" type of section, so I guess that's fine, but it's a slightly odd choice considering there's significant changes coming. And there are several inaccuracies, like a ride that never existed. Here's a picture.
If you look at all the other pictures and models of cool things open at DLR, and cool things not yet open at DHS, and you're having a rough day, the "wish you were here..." line might resonate.
This is not a complaint, I just wish I could figure out what they're trying to achieve, and how this is a good means of achieving that.
The Pacific Electric was a real railroad and Who Framed Roger Rabbit was a big movie. Both were also the basis of planned attractions. There are also billboards for the red car and Roger Rabbit in MGM, although there are no such attractions to be found there. Both were made into rides at DLR, however. So this seems consistent.
Let's advertise stuff you can't ride here.
I like how DCA can now thumb it's nose at DHS and WDS. You've come along way baby.Lest ye forget... this is the same company that has an entire line of merchandise dedicated to things you can't ride ANYWHERE anymore.

Personally, I think the irony is that the one time worst Disney Park in the US (DCA) is being advertised in a park that is currently in far more pathetic shape than DCA was. So, perhaps the Paradise Pier billboard is a beacon of hope that even the lowliest of Parks can be turned around.
