New Movie Ride Script

I just read that the Great Movie Ride is going to get a new script, more like the Jungle Cruise Script. So I am guessing we will be hearing a lot of jokes and shots at the different movie scenes in the ride.

What does everyone think of this? I think it sounds like it will be kinda cool, something new, ya know? Especially after being on it so many times. I can see a lot of great spots to make corny jokes, or even jokes at how corny some parts of the ride seem nowadays, like the gangster scenes or te alien attack! Lol, it will probably be pretty funny.

A think it will bring a much needed family atmosphere ride to the studios. They need something to keep families coming to the park. You don't want it turning in to an IOA.

I'm definitely psyched for this! Imagine...all the munchkin jokes...and a great joke about Tarzan...who doesn't laugh at him every ride?!?! And then there is, of course, "and here is the back side of Mary....she has a stick in her ***, but is still practically perfect in every way!" (she has a post going through her back making her "fly", and it's quite visible). It should be fun!

heh - I can see it now. Once you're leaving the Oz set, but before the Witch comes up. "Well folks, it looks like our trip to Oz has come up a bit short".

If indeed true, at least it's just the script and not the whole ride. It needed some sort of change...

I've always felt that the studios are very much geared toward family entertainment. A couple of non-kiddie rides do not a thrill park make.

I just hope it is not too corny!

And I hope the CM's do improvise a little bit, and not stick to the script completely. I don't want to hear the same jokes everytime!!!!

I do welcome the change, as this ride did need something. It is one of my favorites. As many of you already said, the last thing we need is an impersonal environment like US and IOA!

I like it. The old one already had some jokes, so this should only improve it. Of course, as long as they keep talking about the movies, much like Jungle Cruise talks about which river or which forest you're visiting next. If you thin about it, some of those movies are getting old, so kids may not recognize all of them.

I like the idea....the ONLY problem I have with it is that the joking can sometimes ruin the ambiance that the designers were trying to capture. Example Alien....supposed to be quite and serious.

This would be funny - but only good for a short time (and only return guests would get it). But when you get to the Western or Gangster area things would go on as planned and the CM would say something like "I've seen this before!" and drive off in the middle of the bit before the switch...

Could also have the sacred jewel trap not go off (meaning the jewel is stolen) and have the 'villain' get back on the tram "What - think I was going to die or something? Shows what the tram knows."

It has got to be very very hard to keep us fans happy that go to Disney every year..... The script was good and I expect another good one when the rehab is finished.

Well, most of the movies were already old when the park opened...Cagney, John Wayne, Oz, the musicals, Tarzan, Casablanca...

To be honest, that was what made me like MGM more as a movie-themed park, because it didn't go a untine route and just honor the big-budget teen-marketed "famous today, forgotten tomorrow" movies like many places might have. Thats why I like Universal, too, even though they and MGM are somethimes guilty of this. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with today's popular films, its just that I like the idea that there is a place like MGM that showcases these classics to the extent that they do.

Still, I am always ready for an update! Mabey this new script is just to hold our appetites 'till the much rumored re-doing of the attraction comes about.

What I never got is that the movie at the end of the ride shows scenes from Universal movies. I know Terminator 2 for sure. I find that very akward.

Anyway back on topic, I hope the preview screen will be updated with more famous classics.

The original Terminator was actually distributed by Orion Pictures and Terminator 2 (the movie) was distributed by Columbia TriStar Pictures. Neither were made by Universal, so I suppose they got the rights from CTP to make a 3D film for their park. I'm not sure which Terminator movie that one scene in GMR is from, but its probably in the GMR because MGM was involved in the distribution of the original movie's video and DVD release :)

It's the original Terminator in the finale film...
