New Monorial Rumor

I don't think disney would ever plan construction to begin that late...they usually approve projects months before clearing begins.

Part of the new rumored monorail system involves a new TTC..as well as paths to *5* parks..not 4...so i dunno if the intercot info is too accurate..if at all..

2007 may be the start of construction due to the high costs of this project...but somehow..i dont even see it happening at all....

It could be based on fact, or something that has been thrown around at Disney. They say they will do things a lot, but it doesn't always happen, like the old idea of a new monorail expansion that has been talked about for so long on that "other thread"

I doubt it is.. I mean, John, the guy who started the thread, runs Intercot. I doubt the sites owner would lie to the people who read it.

However, I'll believe it when I see it

well it could be all the things you guys are saying. A possible reason for the 2007 date could be that with Disney having a Five year plan for projects that it could just be at the current five year plan that I think they revise yearly

Don't believe it until you are riding those new monorails. I have heard so man rumors about this, and so far I have seen nothing to show truth. I hope it happens, but for some reason I don't think it will. And if construction starts in 2007 when will it be completed. This project (if it happens) is still a very long time away. Also by then we will have more resorts and possibly more water parks and maybe even a new theme park. Will an expansion cover all these areas (the article says only 4 theme parks).

Is there any truth to what I have heard of Disney surveing guests a while back about wether they wanted a monorail to everywhere on property and if they would pay to ride??

Also Is there truth to the rumor that they went so far as to have focus groups to consider guests desires for the Monorail expansion??

And it it true as to what steve posted on the Transportation link sometime back that land has been cleared for a rite-of-way??

Yes, yes, probably not. It's common knowledge that they conducted a study (the famous "seven gate scenario") and surveyed numerous cast and guests to find out what they want. They put a lot of effort into it, including site visits by Bombardier reps and the like.

What we DON'T know is what they plan to do with this information. Given that they are now re-equiping the current monorails with new controls but don't seem to be making any motions towards modifying the infrastructure, I think it's safe to say that whatever does happen is many years away.

We don't know what they are going to do with the information. Do we know what the results of the study were? I'm guessing not. Obviously the information they gathered would be a huge clue in knowing what they were thinking.

(Just a side note - Monorail Lime, not to offend your tastes, but I'm noticing your avatar and I really don't like those Japanese monorails. They're far too busy. I like the sleeker ones at WDW. But that's just my opinion :D)

I believe the result of the study was that people wouldn't mind seeing more monorails but would use whatever form of transportation is quickest and simplest. Like Fantasia Boi has been saying all along, expanding the current system would not offer an advantage of speed or convenience over the bus system.

A massive rebuilding including lots of new beam and new hubs would be required to offer an acceptable level of service. Given the expense required it doesn't make sense to undertake such a project until new areas of WDW are open, which is really what the study was looking at in the first place.

About the Japanese monorails, to each their own. But I bet you'd like them a lot more if you rode on them! :)
