Hey, everyone.

The recently installed new billingual auto safety spiels in the load area of the Tower of Terror. I've been told that they're done by the same elderly person that does the older spiels.

The spiel goes like this:

"To our valued guests: For your safety once onboard, please remain seated with your seatbelt fastened, keeping your hands, arms, feet and legs inside the elevator at all times and do take special care to supervise your children. Thank you." (Spanish safety spiel follows.)

This has nothing to do with the spiels, but have they taken out all the safety bars, and replaced them with seatbelts? It's been a while since i've been to the Studios. Thanks!

Last time I was there two of the elevators had lap bars still and all of the others made the change to seatbelts. It is indeed a more exciting ride with you have nothing in front of you to hold on to and you get a lot of air time. I do beleive that all of the elevators have made the switch now. If I'm wrong someone please correct me.

I think they all have seat belts now, but I'm not completely certain. The updated load consoles now have a seat belt control where the lap bar one used to be.

Just wanted to add that the Spanish spiel is also done "in character."
3 weeks ago is was not in character.

We went on ToT and it was just a regular, rather boring, Spanish language announcement.

So have the changed it to In Character now?

Yep. It sounds like it might even be the same person doing it. I was deliberately listening for it since I couldn't remember how it was the last time I was there.

I think it not so exciting now with the seat belts...unless you lap them over loosely. At least with the bar, it wasnt quite low enough sometimes and everyone would keep pushing down on the bar to get it closer to their bodies...with these seatbelts...you determine you freedom...so if you strap down tight...you really dont have air time.

Yeah, actually I liked the bars MUCH more than the belts. I don't really know why you guys rave about the belts giving more airtime when no matter what is done to them, they tighten around your waste like a vice grip! It went from a fabulous thrilling ride to a faster than average elevetor that I am strapped into. BRING BACK THE BARS!!

I was at first a little angry they were going to belts for the air time issue. However, when I rode it recently I thought I got just as much air time with the belts as with the bars. Now I've only ridden with the belts 2 or 3 times, but it seemed that they didn't really lock you in completely since I know I raised off my seat pretty well. Obviously when you got a "bigger-boned" person in there, the bar would be a lot higher and I had to sometimes hold myself in the seat  That said, I think the belts are a lot safer than the bars for that very reason. Long bars across several seats like that prevented each passenger from receiving the proper safety restraint. Not to mention now you have nothing to hold on to

I actually like the seat belts much more than the lap bars. I'm a big guy so the whole row was using a lap bar that was locked at my level. I wouldn't get much of any air time, but I would wrap my arms around the bar tightly.

When I went on ToT this year, it had the seat belts. I hadn't been that scared on the ride since the first time I rode it. I had nothing to hold on to. There was a handle down by the seatbelt, but it was kinda hard to find that while falling. I ended up just grabbing onto my cousin's arm.

I agree.

I dont think that absence of bars and addition of setbelts was to give one more airtime. I'm sure the same is still achieved.

However, I think the seatbelts dont allow you to hold on to anything. I know, for instance, my mom only rides the ride if she is gauranteed not to get the acclaimed "seatbelt seat." Now that the seats have all been transformed, and my mom doesnt know about the modifications (b/c they werent all in place last Dec.) she will be in for quite a good ride. And I am excited jsut as well to be guaranteed nothing to hold on to. B/c I do soemtimes chicken out and hold onto the once there lapbar for safety.

If I'm not mistaken...they have grunt bars on the side of the seat dont they?? I thought I was holding on to something in between the seats when the seat belts were on....but then again, I could be mistaken with FEAR!
