New Living Seas ride (Sorry Captain Hook)

Anyhoo, reading these posts have really inspired me to get involved. The basic premise for this is (Quite similar to Hook's in context, but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery don't you know) in Sea Base Alpha a few scientists are giving a conference on deep sea creatures (cue clip from finding nemo). You go in and sit in rows of four with restraints. Then the seats (on a converor belt) move out of the auditorium and start travelling past various tank effects utilising £D animation, projection and forced perception of depth. You are shown angler fish e.t.c then these vehicles form a circle around a thick, circular tank (alien Encounter Stlye, but much larger) where the piece do resistance is shown. The vehicles are really on large mechanical arms which raise, elevating guests upwards, towards the centre of the tank's height. Nothing at first, but then large red, glowing eyes open and stare at you (there are really 5 'eye effects' so everyone can see equally around the tube.) After a little explanation a flashbulb goes off (mounted on back of each vehicle) thanks to a ignorant guests a rumble is heard and a muffled roar. The eyes dissapear. Now in complete darkness audio effects have various security guards trying to detain 'rouge guest' and other marine biologist try to help creature. A slight spintering is heard, the glass is cracking. In a flash of sparks, we see several large tentacles raise from the tube fragments. In darkness they slither across guests faces(freaking them out) Emergency tube below is opened, causing the squiddy-thing to fall and die. (Much more before this, but Im late for English). Vehicles lower, people disembark cue short film on real life squiddy-things.

I have concept art being uploaded so check back soon!

Glad to hear it! I've got more time to tweak now, so in no particular order:

1. The ride will take place in the 'Sea Base Alpha Exposition Halls' (Non-existent currently).
2. References to the Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo will feature in the tanks.

3. I stil haven't thought of a better way of finishing off the squid. Any suggestions?

1) All the squids I've seen (giant and non) are mono-ocular (ie they have one eye), course this is assuming that is what you have in your first concept art and depends on how science oriented your ride is to be.

2) I think you need to push the sheet out further from your mechanism, they way you have it drawn it looks like if a tall person kicked their feet backwards they could get their feet caught into the lift mechanism. Also is the seat supposed to slide backwards as you have it drawn during the lift?

Good mechanism schematic though and it is a pretty good attraction concept

Cheers!

1. I've never seen a squid in my life, so thanks for the head up on the eye thing. That probably will be changed.

2.I see your point, but this was just a roughy plany-y sort of thing. But I'll adjust that, I wouldn't wanna see my sister's feet stuck (shes the one pictured)

Thanks for your comments-keep em coming!
