New Lego Superloop Pics

Hi all,

I wanted to give an update in regards to my latest Lego project, the Larson International Superloop.

Things are moving along, and it looks like I have about a hundred hours left until this one is complete, and ready for display.
There are a number of temporary strings in this pic, which are only there as extra support for now. I hate knocking projects over by mistake!
I am also working on a 4 foot tall operating Zipper amusement ride at the same time, which is still about 400 hours away from completion. I will post some pictures of the development stage of this new one soon.

Enjoy!

Inertia Ring

The key component for this ride is the Inertia Ring that rotates within the loop structure. This is a close up of the ring. Each of the trolly's that form the ring, have wheels mounted similar to modern steel coasters. This ring is engaged by the drive system, and the cars where the riders sit also attaches to it. I will be working on the cars next.

Beneath the Inertia Ring

This is a shot from below the ring. You can see it is supported by round tubuler non-Lego rails:lookaroun that I mounted in the loop structure with Lego Technic pins.

Thanks for the kudos!

Right now you are looking at about 35,000 elements. When complete, I think it will be up to 40,000 or so. I have been working on this for about 200 hours now, but that includes development time, which is the real time waster. First the concept must be tried, to see if it will be structurally and functionally viable. Then I build a reasonably close proximity of the finished version with the details, with a focus on mechanical systems. Once I have all the mechanical bugs worked out, ie. is the motor powerful enough? are there weaknesses that will get worse over time? I REBUILD from scratch, including details like lights etc.

Anyways, this one has about a hundred hours left...much to my wife's chagrin:D
