New GPS Disney device with up to minute wait times

It looks like it is running on Android OS (my guess from the icons at the top) so it could be an app they will eventually release for Andriod OS phones.

I've lost track of all these device trials at the parks over the years. A few make it, but a lot never see the light of day again. Remember the DS trials?

But the power of wait time is too much for one eight year old child to have the responsibility for.

That's certainly Android. Looks like an HTC device with the camera in the back.

I like the custom case blocking out the status bar.

It will be interesting if Disney ever does make a real go with one of these devices.

When I was in Disneyland I found myself using some of the apps available on phones from there (MouseWait was the best, if I recall). They are user updated, but because of the large amount of locals at Disneyland I found it very accurate because a lot of people are updating. Was a great experience, though of course direct data from Disney would be even better.

Does anyone use this Verizon app thing that came out about a year ago? I can't keep up with these various "trials" that never make it to mass use.

That's not a dedicated device at all, it's a HTC Eris in Disney shell (with probably an extended battery.)

Disney needs to realize if you have to buy MORE hardware it will never work. You have devices that have gps, sophisticated software, and screens in every pocket now, use that!

I read on Twitter it was simply a test of Mobile Magic from Verizon on the Droid since it has not been available on the device yet.

Ah yes, the DS trials. I upgrade my DS to a DSL just in case these came out. I figure they would just sell / rent the cartridge and away we go.

But either way, ya gotta love the gadgets. Put one of these in the belly of a Pal Mickey?

Here's to hoping something that good ends up on the android system. I was shocked and disappointed that mobile magic only came out on the old verizon phones...thought it was terrible planning considering how many people have smartphones and how powerful they are.
