New Fantasyland opening question

I never really followed what happens at a Disney "Grand Opening" but I will be vacationing during the upcoming opening. Should I plan on going to the ceremony? If so, what time should I get there and what should I expect? What is the "preview" that starts on Nov 19?

I have everything all planned and this has thrown a wrench in my schedule.

The previews that start on November 19th are what we generally refer to as a soft openings. The general public will be allowed into the area to experience the new ride and attractions, but there are no gaurentees they everything will be open all the time during the preview.

As for the details of the "Grand Opening" I don't think anything official has been announced yet.

Hey, we will be there too!! We are planning on avoiding it like the plague just in case. Our MK day is currently the 3rd so we're hoping we will be able to see everything that day.

My DH thinks we should go to MK that day becuase it is a once in a life time event.

Grand openings are typically for invited guests only - employees, contractors, media etc.

Don't forget the "top-secret soft opening." This will take place on or about October 13, 2012, when a chubby woman who looks a lot like me dons a Ninja outfit over her pack and climbs over the construction walls for a self-conducted tour, which will last until law enforcement arrives to drag her away, screaming, "But I thought 'in phases starting fall 2012' meant OCTOBER! December is not the fall! It's noooooooot faaaaaaaaall!"
