New Epcot Tree Lighting Show for 2003

I can confirm that Epcot will have a new, character driven, Tree Lighting show this year.

The show will take place between the towers, and replaces the Cast In Bronze driven show. The show is approx. 10 minutes long, and features two equity singers from American Vybe with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald, Chip & Dale, and Goofy.

It will also feature 12 International Cast Members that will participate each show. The show will be each night as 6:00.

It is really well done, and very cute. Make sure y'all come and see it!!

Are Cast in Bronze stillplaying this year? According to their website a few months ago they were.

Unless you mean they are just not doing the Tree Lighting show

I just called the ph# on the Cast in Bronze website and they are NOT playing this year. They opted for the Character thingie.

DANG, I dealt with no Osbourne Lights, but no Cast in Bronze is tough for me to swallow. Disneyland was interested in having them but that feel through as well.

The Epcot Show Director, Michael Korkis wanted them, but someone higher than him opted for "a different direction" this year.

DANG, email Disney and ask for Cast in Bronze next year!!!!!! Even if this character thing is great, have BOTH!!!!!!

It is too bad Cast in Bronze isn't playing though. I'm bringing some 1st timers and would LOVE for them to see that show. Oh well - maybe another year!

I totally agree! It was hard to hear about no Osbourne Family Spectical of light.s But!!!!! At least I'm going to Disneyworld! :sohappy: Can't be mad about that! And there are other things we can try out too (M:S, etc)

Sorry to ask such a stupid question, but between what two towers?

Will it be at the same place as last year?

So long as Voices of Liberty are playing at EPCOT, I'll be there.

A major reason for the ceremony is the lack of Christmas events over at the studios. Disney was also pressing for Holiday Illuminations (which hasn't been played for a few years now), but I certainly heard this event mention.

Holiday Illuminations would be great, Grizz. It is much better than Reflections of Earth.

At least they will likely use the red and green shells for the finale. Was it last year or the year before when they used the red and green shells for the Holidays and keep using them until July? Talk about buying in bulk.

The towers are the shops at the entrance to World Showcase. Sorry about that. Kinda vague. I keep forgetting that not everybody knows the lingo.

The stage went up today, and will be finished tonight. The stage is in front of the Christmas tree, and the Arch lights run between the stage and Spaceship Earth. Needless to say, the treelighting turns on the lights of winter as well as the tree.

The show starts Friday (day after Turkey Day), and will run through Dec. 30.

I will actually be doing the show Friday, and most likely every day till Wed. You won't see me of course, but you will see me. Just to give a hint, I'm your best friend.



As for Cast In Bronze, I really loved them, and I will miss them. They still would have been great to have somewhere in the park. Oh well, at least I still have their CDs.

Yeah, I have to settle for the CD only this year. I was all pumped up to videotape a bunch of the performances. I had 1 from last year, so am able to watch that at least.

As long as they are back next year I'm not too upset. It's alway nice to have changes and new things added.

Heck, I'm excited to see how the Osbourne Lights will be implemented next year as well

That sounds great. Disney charactes AND American Vybe singers. That's wonderful. Hopefully I'll get to see it. It should be a nice change (not that I don't like Cast in Bronze, but I'm ready to see something new). Thanks for the update.
