I know that this isn't WDW, but thought some of you might be interested in the news.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit - On DVD for the First Time Ever

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit hops out of the Disney vault and onto DVD for the first time ever this December. Predating even Mickey Mouse, the rarely seen Oswald is part of the Walt Disney Treasures series that will also include Chronological Donald, Vol. 3 and Disneyland: Secrets, Stories and Magic.
When Walt Disney opened his animation studio in 1923, he spent four years producing The Alice Comedies, a popular series of shorts featuring a live girl in a cartoon world. After four years, Walt created a new character — Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Walt produced 26 Oswald cartoons, which were distributed by Universal and well-received by audiences. However, on a trip to New York to renew his contract for Oswald, Walt discovered a clause in his contract that gave Universal ownership of his popular new character. On the train ride back to Hollywood, Walt was devastated but realized he needed to create a new character — one that he would own entirely — and during that long trip across the country, Mickey Mouse was born. Last February, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit returned to The Walt Disney Company by agreement with NBC/Universal, the company that had previously owned the rights to Oswald since his theatrical debut in 1927.

Walt Disney Home Entertainment continues the popular Walt Disney Treasures series with three new 2-Disc DVD sets featuring rarely seen footage presented with amazing color and sound. The seventh installment of Walt Disney Treasures will be available December 11, 2007 in a limited supply just in time for the holidays.

Predating even Mickey Mouse, the legendary and rarely seen Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was Walt Disney's first big animated star, and having recently returned to the Disney fold, comes out of the vault for the first time ever on DVD. The silent shorts made from 1926 to 1927 with Walt's personal touch, are revitalized with a brand-new score specifically made for Walt Disney Treasures, Wave VII.

Chronological Donald, Volume 3 features the most prolific of Walt's Fab Five, the short-tempered but hilarious Donald Duck in rarely seen solo shorts dating 1947 through 1950.

Disneyland: Secrets, Stories and Magic is a comprehensive look at the Happiest Place on Earth. The centerpiece of this volume is a new documentary with archival footage, including Walt's own words, as well as new interviews that reveal the magic and manpower behind one of the world's most famous destinations.
Each volume features noted film historian, author and critic Leonard Maltin. Each volume is individually numbered, with an authenticity certificate, and an exclusive lithograph in the collectible, unique packaging tins and is available just in time for the holidays, in a limited supply only.

Wasn't half of Disneyland USA on the Walt Disney disk from last year. I'm tired of the Re-hashing on these things. We already get crossovers from the animated character sets.

Lets hope for new material, not just the opening celebration and the after dark AGAIN! OH, and when can I get the Goofy I missed from round 1? That's a treasure itself. Swamp Rat and some of this other stuff isn't very good. Give us the cartoons -- and don't retire them for a decade afterwards -- I don't need a numbered box. Also give us new stuff. Wasn't the Epcot thing on the Tomorrowland one and the Walt one too???

Go back to Vault Disney from the mid-late 90's and pull out some of those gems.

Also, release the Zorro as a full set for like $80 or something. Don't be afraid. It's better than a lot of the mismatch these sets put together.

Pluto being the worst. It's 2 sets, each barely over a disk long. The full thing could easily fit on 2.5 disks but they split it into 2 sets anyways. Where are the specials too? Splash Mt opening with Ernest, Star Wars opening? Donald's 50th celebration?

If Disney execs read this, PUT TOGETHER A VAULT DISNEY STATION. Dedicated to shows over 2 Decades old. Put on Mousercise, Mousterpiece Theater, the old Ozzie and Harriet, Zorro, afternoons could have MMC daytimes could have the Mickey Mouse Club. Those shows all did gangbusters for Disney Channel after they stopped being a pay chanel. It's time to put them back in the rotation. Yer losing to "The N" and Nick at Night. You could OWN them. Make "Prime Time" features. Everything from the most classic of Disney animation to the great live action features. McMurray to Mills to Dean Jones. Heck -- start with Snow White and carry features all the way to Great Mouse Detective. I think that was the last one before Mermaid. That could carry you for about a half a year at least. There are at least 150 or so features up til 1989 aren't there?

The Boomers are all starting to retire -- why not put on some programming they would be sure to watch.

Treasures could then find out what viewers are really hoping for more of. Guess I got a bit off topic. I'd watch Vault Disney every day though. Esp Mousterpiece Theater. Having the short on Meet the Robinsons may be a step in the right direction.
