New Disney Dining Plan For 2007

I am sure this will be the subject of conversations in the future, but the 2007 changes to the dining plan really stink. Being able to trade 2 meal credits for room service is hardly worth losing the right to dine at Downtown Disney or several Epcot locations.

For those of you who are so much more in the know, what is the thinking?
Any thoughts would be welcome.

Jpvondrake informed everyone that the restaurants that are not currently on 2007's plan, but were on 2006's are in negotiations with disney and will most likely be available for 2007.

This is probably a really stupid question, and I haven’t actually seen what restaurants are not listed as of right now for 2007, but I’m going down 12/27/06 – 1/6/07 and I have the DDP for our trip.

Now if I already have reservations at a restaurant in Epcot that is on the DDP for 2006 but NOT (so far) on the list for 2007, and my reservation is like, January 3rd or something of the like, will they then not be accepting my DDP when I go to use it after New Year’s? :veryconfu

Not a stupid question at all...

If your arrival date is 12/27/06, then you are booked on the 2006 Magic Your Way Plus Dine Package for the entire length of your stay. Any changes to the 2007 version of the package will have no effect on your vacation package.

For example, if a restaurant is dropped for 2007 you can still eat there with your 2006 plan. Likewise, if a new restaurant is added in 2007, you will not be able to eat there with your 2006 plan.

I figured as much, but you never know these days and it would be just my luck if I didn't ask, that it would happen to me down there.
