New Disney Cruise Ship

Well I just got off of the Disney Wonder the other day and I found out that a new cruise ship has re-begun construction. I'm sure this news has already hit the threads but I'll report it anyway. The new ship is going to be called the Disney Dream. The crew members that told me about it said that only the name was given out. Possibilities they've heard though is that it will be either stationed in Port Canaveral, or California. If it is stationed in Canaveral, either the Wonder or the Magic will be moved to Europe or California with a possible cruise to Hawaii. The ship has been under construction for a while but was postponed because of Sep. 11. Anyway it makes me excited that a new ship is going to be coming out.

That sounds awesome! Haven't been on a Disney cruise yet but looking forward to maybe going next year for our 10th anniversary. We wanted to wait until our son was 4 so that he could be included in the kids programs!

Could you tell me....are the cruises as magical as when you stay at the resorts?:animwink:

I hope the new one is going to California. It wouldn't be fair for one of the old ships to move to Cali and the new one to be in FL. (Sorry a little protective of the Cali resorts lol). It would be nice though because I really want to go on a Disney Cruise and don't know when the next time I can go to FL will be.

just because the ship is old, they keep very very very good care of them. while on the cruise this past may, we noticed that they cleaned and repainted while in port.

I wouldn't exactly call them "Old"... they're actually quite newer than a lot of the "Luxury Liners" out there.

Sorry... :( :(

I guess I just am being defensive. Please don't be upset with me.

What would they go to from California?

"Off the port side, you can see people trying to come across the border illegally." :hammer:

They have Castaway Cay on the Atlantic. There isn't anywhere to go on the Pacific. And coming over to the Atlantic will take way too long.

I heard they were trying to have a private Island on this coast too. And what about Hawaii? there ARE places to go off of this coast. (I can't remember the exact details I heard).

I think saying that there is no where to go from California is very unreasonable.

Ciaos!

You obviously haven´t looked at a map...
I don´t think you can actually see the people crossing from the boat...

The Pacific side is even more impressive than the Atlantic side!

No, I don't think it is. Hawaii is a week by boat IIRC. Too long for a cruise. They don't have an island. Nor would they buy one if they have one already that is not used very much.

Actually the rumor I heard said they were looking into either buying one or making a man made Island.

Why do you think that isn't possible?

When I was on the cruise, I was told as well the ship was delayed because of the 9/11. And when it gets up and running again, it will be stationed in California. But they could keep it here in Orlando just fine. The ships are always full.

DW and I went on a 4-day cruise (on the Wonder) last November for our 2-year anniversary and it was great. We were going to do the 7-day western Carribean cruise for our third anniversary, but we're going to have a daughter instead. :sohappy:

Anyway, if you can do it, do it. I was so fun.

DW and I have been hoping for a Disney Mediterranean cruise.... Maybe this new ship would be for this, though I'll bet a Pacific cruise would happen before a Mediterranean one.
