Here are some new things coming to Disney channel this coming year (taken from the Ultimate Disney Channel Fan Page)
--Disney’s Brandy & Mr. Whiskers, a new animated series from Walt Disney Television Animation, is the quintessential buddy comedy about a pampered pooch and an excitable, offbeat rabbit who must forge a friendship while surviving their comical misadventures in the Amazon rainforest. It’s The Odd Couple meets Gilligan’s Island as they try to survive both with and in spite of each other. Among the many jungle occupants are Lola, an over-analytical boa, twin Toucan sisters Cheryl and Meryl, and river otter Ed, as well as the scheming leader of the jungle, Gaspar Le Gecko. It's animation style has been compared to that of "Betty Boop".
--Disney’s American Dragon: Jake Long [is] a coming of age action/comedy about an Asian-American boy trying to find balance in his life as a skateboard-grinding New York City teen who is also entrusted with the mystical powers of the American Dragon, guardian of all magical creatures secretly living amidst the human world. The series is produced by Walt Disney Television Animation.
--Twenty-six half-hour episodes of this CGI animated series are being created for Playhouse Disney. The series is based on the Playhouse Disney Mini-Show shorts of the same name.
HalloweenTown 3 has also been put into production.
In my opinion, Dave the Barbarian was where the cartoons should of stopped. If they are aiming for a tween/teen audience, live action shows are what they should be producing. Nickelodeon was great with live action, and then the cartoons took over, and now it sucks. Phil of the Future seemed like another step in the right direction, but here they go adding more cartoons. I also don't like how BraceFace was quietly added to the lineup. If they start taking shows directly from ABC Family, the value of Disney Channel is going to go down like crazy. I think it is only a matter of time before So Little Time makes its way into the lineup. That will be the day when I block Disney Channel.
