From Screamscape:

(12/14/12) " I’m not entirely sure what is going on, but Screamscape sources tell us that the arcade connected to the gift shop at the exit of the Mummy ride has been closed, and the windows covered up with paper. A construction wall has also gone up around the “theater entrance” to Mummy and both corners of the soundstage building are said to now have odd panels put up on the roof, as well as a similar looking structure on the back as well. With construction on the Hogwarts Express attraction going on full tilt just behind the scenes here, could this be related? "

Not sure how this area would be affected by the train construction. Any ideas?

The gist of it is that it is somewhat of a prefurb for Mummy, with the entrance getting rerouted into the theater to free up clutter out front. Also the ride has supposedly been getting a lot of maintenance on projectors and effects during the third shift. (From OU)

Supposedly the panels in the roof are for wi-fi. I know they've been planning on adding in the parks for awhile...but I have no idea why they'd close the arcade...

Because it was not so good would be my guess

I think the work is being done to allievate guest flow issues, especially during the parade time

Makes sense.....
