I don't know whether anyone has discussed this yet. But my folks came back from Disney with the news that there is going to be another annual passholders lounge opening in the Animal Kingdom. It will be located in the Pizzafari and will be ready May 18.
I have no idea what the lounge is going to look like. I got the info from this fun little newsletter they were handing out at the one in epcot. Since it's going to be another indoor lounge... there's a good possibility they will be alike.
It just didn't sound Dineyesque to provide something for valued customers that was not top rate. I was thinking it must have been an isolated incident.
Won't know about the one in AK until tomorrow but for Epcot, go to the elevador in The Land and push floors 2 and 3 at the same time. It will take you up to the third floor.

I never heard of these lounges until I came here. What exactly are they and how do I get in?
We were getting Mickey Monitor until Feb. '01 - that's when our passes expired.
We usually renew right before we go, which will be in Nov of this year. Sorry but we never really paid attention to the lounge things.
I just returned from a weeklong vacation at Disney World. I am a passholder and did visit both lounges.
The Epcot lounge is on the third floor of the land pavilion. This is a large seating area with very large couchs and chairs. They have Spring Water, Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and Coffee. The Hot drinks are hot and the cold drinks are warm. The spring water is dispenced from a cooler. If many people are drinking from it, then is it warm. The soda is from a mini-soda fountain machine. The coke solution and chilled soda water is mixed to make the drink. There is also two TV's and a teleohone for you to make local phone calls.
The Animal Kingdom lounge is in the rear of the Pizzaparafi (spelling). The is in the Discovery island area of Animal Kingdom. The lounge only has spring water dispenced from a cooler. The lounge is also outside and has no A/C. It is screened so the bugs will stay out. They did have a pinball machine and two other game machines. People were using them but I believe they are free. The chairs are not very comfotable. The only plus is you can get priority seating for the Lion King Show (Max 25 people per show) or front row for the daily parade (Max 25 people). If you are planning on getting one of these two pluses, I would suggest getting there early as the good times are taken early in the day. Because this area has no A/C there is no real reason to make a special stop for this.
I have also just returned from a trip to Disney World and visited both lounges. I agree, the lounge at Animal Kingdom has much to be desired. The one plus was that we could eat in there instead of in the main restaurant area and it was much quieter than the rest of the restaurant. It did give us a small bit of solitude during the day.
I did enjoy the lounge at EPCOT which is more "plush". When we were there (visited it three times during our trip), there was ice provided for the water and soda. I however enjoyed the break for a cup of coffee. It was quiet and relaxing and I met some other passholders. It was nice conversing with them. On the first afternoon/evening we visited, Chip and Dale and Mickey came up to visit us and I was able to get pictures with them and my kids without a large crowd rushing them. I hope they keep the lounges and add one in each of the other two parks. It is a nice little retreat.
I just got back from there as well( may 22-23 2002).It was not what we were expecting from Disney as a Pass holder lounge. No a/c and very cramp, you could hardly get through the door.As for Epcot's AP Lounge ,it was nice and cool. That 70's retro look with the furniture was relaxing.Drinks were cold ,but cups were small along with smaller ice cubes.
