What are some Universal rides that never came to fruition? I see threads of this about Disney rides tht were never built, so why not Universal!

Just a few I can think of off the top of my head are:
  • Jurassic Park Jeep Ride
  • Jurassic Park HelicopTours
  • Sylvesters McMonkey McBean's Unusual Driving Machines (the original version of what became the High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride)

Van Helsing. Would've gone where FJ is, using the same ride system.

Wasn't the reason this was never built because someone got and revealed the plans so universal spat their pacifier out and didn't build it?? Or is it more that film sucked/bombed.

I'd guess option #2. It was a terrible movie that nobody cared about. Why would Uni go through the cost of building an attraction?

An Apollo 13 attraction was rumored to take over Kong for a while. Universal even filed patents, but I don't believe it was ever more than a concept thing.

Then there is the super secret concept that was Pre-MIB. That would "change themed entertainment as we know it" but was too ambitious.

What type of ride?
It was a coaster through space, from the sounds of it. All of the links to the patents that I could find are now dead, unfortunately.

Also, while it wound up being built elsewhere (next door :p), Jurassic Park: The Ride was originally supposed to be in MIB's spot.

I remember one! The second gate was supposed to be Cartoon World which was going to have Gotham, Seuss, Toon Lgoon, etc. until JP came out and they decided to include live-action and developed it into IoA

Jaws was originally going to be replaced with a flume ride based off of King Kong...that was until the booming success of Potter...and the grand idea to connect the two parks.

wouldn't a Kong flume ride be too similar to Jurassic Park River Adventure?

I believe it was a concept developed for The Simpsons Ride, so it would be the existing simulators reused from Back to the Future: The Ride.
Actually, that concept was for either a replacement for the old Hannah Barberra ride or a new one for IOA...before they built Toon Lagoon...if I remember correctly. They were interested in the Simpsons years ago, but obviously nothing happened until the Simpsons ride replaced Back to the Future.
