Need to Rent Out Points...Advice?

I need advice from fellow DVC owners who may have rented out their points. In a previous year, I rented them out through Disboards, but wasn't totally satisfied...

I am scheduled to go to WDW September 27, and rented three rooms - one for me and two for friends. The friends have a variety of issues and this evening told me that they couldn't go, which as I pointed out puts me in a bind as I needed the money from them for renting the room to cover my expenses.... so now I have to rent out the points (or I guess the rooms I rented) to avoid a pretty big financial hit.

Does anyone have recommendations on what are good or bad companies who will rent the points from me? Any info on costs, etc?

Any insight you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Not sure this helps..but I rent my points from the Timeshare Store..

They have been great, I've had no issues thus far..we will be at AKL 11-16 Sep..

David's is the biggie in the business, some of the DVC Timeshare Specialists have also started doing point rentals. They currently charge less than David's, not sure if that is because not as many people know about them, or if they pay the owners less.

It sounds like you need to sub-rent a room you rented, not rent points. You don't own the points? And are you thus bound to a rental contract from the original transaction?

Do the rental companies actually rent out already booked rooms? I thought they just did points and then you choose what to book, but admittedly I don't follow this closely.

Ebay would typically be the only place I would see people trying to rent an existing reservation. If you look you will often see "AKL Dec 13-20" or similar listing pop up on there.

I read it as they do own the points. If the OPs banking deadline hasn't passed, they could bank them, and then try to rent them later. But if the deadline has passed, then they need to rent them before their use year expires or lose the points.

I think David is giving $11 per point now. Not too bad

how many points and when do they need to be used?

I have at least 200 points - have to find out the exact number and the time they need to be used.... I know some of them are banked points from last year...but I need to modify my reservation and am hoping to take the banked points for my room and then have free and clear points I can rent.... such a mess.

I need enough points for two nights at AKL, Sept, 6-7, studio or one bedroom. Not sure I understand, but if you have that available I would be interested.

Guess I should clear up my last post. I don't need to go to AKL, but would like to. Learned a long time ago difference in need and want. Would also consider BWV or BCV points for the same dates.

Yes, please let us know the use by dates. I might be interested in a day in September and/or a day in December.

The easy way is to advertise on social media. If you can afford then advertise on TV or news or ask the peoples living around you. Hiring a broker is also a good option. The important thing is to refurnish your points.
