My family (8 adults and 2 kids) is booking our first (as a whole) family trip to Disney. We are trying to decide when to stay. We are looking at Sept or Oct of 2014. We were leaning more towards the middle to end of October but our travel agent told us that there are more promotions for going in Sept and the crowds are lower. I'm nervous about the weather, too. Any suggestions would be great!!

With a group that size, I'd say off site homes are worth looking into.

I am a teacher and are very limited as to when I can go but if I had a choice of any time of year I would choose April/May because I would love to go during the Flower and Garden Festival and also Star Wars weekends. I'd also love to go in October for food and Wine.

We always go the last week of May into early June for 10 or more days. In 2014 the dates we are going are: May 29-June 8. Local schools arent' out yet, it isn't miserably hot, precipitation is manageable, and we get in on SWW. We went the week after Thanksgiving last year for a quick trip (5 days I think) primarily to watch MCMCP and the crowds and weather were great. Kids missed a couple days of school but we coordinated it ahead of time. I'm not a big fan of pulling the kids out but it was a fun experience. Considering doing it for MNSSHP at DL this year.

I love Disney World in Mid October. The weather is beautiful and it isn't full. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween is lots of fun. ;)

Yep, this ^^^^^^. Plus Food & Wine Festival. And occasionally there are promotions in October. I haven't been paying attention to what dates are available this year because, sadly, I won't be there!
