Need sprinkling of Pixie Dust...

I currently have a vacation planned for May 25th with my life-long best friend who I haven't seen in 4 years. But, my dad is DoD and with cuts looming if the budget doesn't get passed, he will be furloughed (meaning he would work 4 instead of 5 days and lose a big chunk of pay as a result), I will be forced to cancel my trip so that my parents can have my money.
I would be out quite a bit of money if I have to cancel, and I have explained this to my parents, but they don't seem to care. Plus, I don't know when I would be able to afford this trip again, as I paid for almost all of it with my tax refund money.

We should know by the end of this month.

So, please....I need as much pixie dust magic, thoughts and prayers as I can get. I don't want to let my friend down and have her be out her airfare money/points and the money she put in.

Thanks!!!

Im not sure Im understanding exactly, but good luck to you!

(Would have to give your parents your money? Would be out money, but they dont care? Is this a previous obligation you have to them? Or is this something you're doing out of the kindness of your heart, but in that case, why are you explaining to your parents you'd be out money and they dont care?)

I live at home, so according to my parents, I would have to help out more financially with house payments, etc.
They don't think it's right that I should be able to go on vacation and that if I can afford this then I can afford to pay a house payment or such. It's true that my job doesn't always give me 15-20 hours a week (with the exception of these past 3 weeks) but I have been saving and saving everywhere possible.

I also went to Cali this past september to visit a friend (who has since moved to another country), but airfare and part of a grocery shopping trip (so that we could save by bringing food with us) and gas is all I spent. So, in their minds, if I can afford 2 vacations in a year, then I must be well off.

The final payment isn't until the 5th of April, so I can get back what I paid, but would still lose airfare and possibly a friend over this because she would lose money over this as well.

Living at home, you should be helping out in some way to help defray the added costs. But if this is money you have already saved for this trip, only 2 months away, and will lose money if the trip is cancelled, I would try to explain the loss and work out a deal with my parents. If I do the trip, I will when I return, put so many $$s towards groceries, utilities, house payments each month. Or get another part time job to increase the money I can contribute.
