Woke up feeling good this morning, made my usual way to work as normal, and then I witnessed something I just couldn't fathom.

During major rush hour traffic, on a major highway, someone decided to pull over and drop a puppy off. (I wish I was kidding but I am not.)

It wasn't until I turned around and realized what had I had just witnessed. The poor thing was chasing after the car with all of its might, but the previous owner sped off. I feel terrible. I wasn't able to stop off the side of the road because of the fast paced traffic.

I seriously feel horrible you guys. I couldn't believe this person would do such a thing. :banghead::arghh:

People suck. It is just that simple. How heartless does someone need to be to dump an innocent puppy off anywhere, never mind beside a busy highway? If they can't, for whatever reason, give the puppy a home, there are so many other options. I bet they did not even try to find it a home.
Hopefully the puppy survived this thoughtless act and someone caring found it and it will now have a forever home, away from the monsters that set it out.
So try not to think about what might have happened, but focus on what could be a better future for the puppy. But don't just dwell on it, use this a moment to make a difference to other animals. Go purchase a bag or two of dog food, maybe some cleaning supplies, paper towels, chew toys etc...and drop them by your local shelter. Local shelters are always in need of food and supplies. So, you can use this to make a positive impact on the lives of other animals while hoping the puppy you saw this morning was rescued.
Your story inspired me and I am heading by and picking up some bags of food for our shelter. We have two rescues I will hug a little tighter this evening as well.
I can't walk through the puppy runs or the cat room at our shelter when I am there though as it makes me too sad. I want to bring them all home.

Thank you for that. I have 4 fur babies myself (kitties). 2 of them my husband and I "rescued" from a woman who didn't know how to take care of animals, let alone cats.

The 2 we rescued, which are now the oldest, were outside in a ferret cage sleeping in the litter boxes. It was very bad. We took them that day. Got home and realized then that the collars on them were so tight they couldn't meow. When we cut off the collars, they had red rings around their necks.

I just don't understand people that want pets (or kids) and don't know how to take care and nurture them and just feel like it is so easy to throw them away...

Unfortunately, my sister (who is an animal hoarder) is not a good animal caretaker.:( (This is a very bad situation in of itself).

The youngest cat we have, we "rescued" from my sister. Long, bad story...but we got the kitten and she is my sweet baby among my other babies.:cat:

Nabooru, the youngest (She is also the smallest; I think she stayed in kitten form)

I see we are not the only ones with unusual names for our pets. This is Goadie. She was on mice and mole patrol here for 18 years. She passed away last year. Not that terribly long ago I looked out the window on a cool morning to check on her, to see if she was lying in her favorite sunny spot out on the deck. Of course, she was not there any more. That was a sad morning. Out of habit, I took her food out to her a couple of times after she was gone.
She chose us to be her family. She actually caught a ride inside the engine compartment of my truck one day. I got home and parked in the driveway and heard loud meowing. Opened up the hood, and there she was. Our other calico, a long-haired beauty named Charm, was set out at a gas station in a cardboard box. I brought her home knowing it was fate that I needed gas that day. She went missing about 10 years ago, and every now and then I think I see her in somebody else's yard. Of course, it is not her, but not knowing what happened to her has always been difficult. I have a picture of her somewhere. I'll try to find it too.

Too funny. Looks like he has a lot of attitude. I hope focusing on our own pets has helped with the needed uplifting at least a little bit.

Here is another photo of Tyson. My wife is the one who dressed him in the raincoat. Not sure if his expression is displeasure with the snow or the raincoat. Either way, he does not look real happy.

:inlove: so adorable! I taught our smallest cat to walk on a leash and harness...I might try putting her in a costume next Halloween if I can talk the hubs into it. She might be able to handle the costume. She likes her harness. (I have strange cats, lol)
