Need some trip suggestions...

Ok, I have a few thoughts that I'd like opinions on.

I'm planning a trip for my Girlfriend and I for January. We're thinking of going for about 10 days.

I was planning something like the 4th-14thish... but should I spring the extra bucks, and go for new years eve? like the 30th to the 10th maybe... Do you think New Years at Disney is worth the extra bit?

We're trying to decide between staying on and off site... I'm starting to lean more towards onsite... But $33 vs $70 a night...

But we're only going to Disney this trip, no Universal, and we won't have a rental car... so while the offsite hotels have shuttles, i'm sure it's not as convenient as staying at a disney hotel...

And I read that season pass members can get resort discounts... I'm planning to get us season passes, but from what I've seen, can I not get the discounts until I've gone to the park and processed the passes?

Thanks for any input

I have never been there during New Years, but from what I have heard it is one of the busiest days of the year. If you don't mind the crowds then I would say go for it! Me personally, I like going when the parks are not crowded so I have always stayed away during the week between Christmas and New Years.

Staying onsite is well worth the extra money. I have stayed offsite before but never will again. I love being able to take the busses throughout Disney property and am a big fan of having merchandise sent to the resort so you don't carry it around all day. Whatever you choose I am sure you will have a great time, but my choice hands down would be to stay on property.

yeah, that's why i'm planning the trip more for after new years, just trying to decide how special new years eve would be.

And staying onsite is seeming the most appealing to me... I just wish I could afford a deluxe ;-)

Definitely stay on-site. You won't regret it. You can always go back to your resort if you're tired or you just need a break if you stay on property, too. You are never away from the magic. The All-Stars are reasonable, buit I've always stayed at a moderate, so I can't comment on what the All-Star resorts are like.

You can definitely use your pass before validating it. You just need to have a valid pass or pass voucher upon check-in. The only catch is that there has to be annual pass availability and it is not likely for New Year's but you never know. Pass codes are available at mousesavers.com. We always stay on property and can't say enough about the convenience and atmosphere. Have fun, whatever you choose.

To me, New Years just isn't worth it. The crowds are seemingly overwelming. And I live in New York where the crowds are alaways overwelming. All of the parks, except maybe Animal Kingdom, reach capacity during that time. But if you're going for ten days (which is a long trip, in my opinion) then it might not be so bad. Whatever you do... Book soon!

Try asking one of our very own board members - Kingdom Konsultant for advice on discounts for staying onsite, her website is

http://www.kingdomkonsultant.com/

Whilst I have never personally availed myself of her skills (always stayed offsite) I read only good things about her on the boards.

I've always stayed offsite because I've been able to get great late deals from the UK that do not appear to be available in America. The price difference lets me hire a car and have a tidy bundle of cash to enjoy in the parks. I have no problem staying offsite and do not feel like I am missing out on anthing. All hotel rooms look the same when you are asleep ;)

Depending on where you stay offsite, there are buses but nowhere near the frequency of those in Disney World resorts.
