Need Help: Split stay with a 3 night cruise in the middle

My wife and I are planning a trip to DW next September for our 20th anniversary. I would like to do 4 days in the parks and she wants a 3 night cruise. So, the cruise is Friday Sept. 6th to Monday the 9th, I was thinking of either doing the cruise and then staying at Disney from Monday the 9th to Friday the 13th or... booking a room at Disney from Wednesday the 4th to Friday the 6th, cruise until Monday the 9th, and then return to Disney until Thursday the 12th. This way I could check two more resorts off my list and doing the cruise in the middle just sounds better to me. My main question is, if I split the stay up can you still get a 5 day rate with park hoppers and the DDP or would it have to be two separate reservations. Thanks.

Yes, you would need 2 separate reservations. However, since tickets are good for 14 days from first use, you could do a package with dining for your first stay ( but get 4 or 5 day tickets). Then just do a room only reservation for your second stay.

Personally, I prefer to do the whole WDW vacation at the beginning, then rest and recuperate on the cruise.

Keep in mind that your dining plan will end at the end of the night on your last day of stay on your first reservation. While you can continue with tickets for up to 14 days after the first day of use, you cannot do that with dining and would need to purchase dining for the second reservation.

I love doing Disney World for a couple of days before and a few after. We don’t ever use the Dining Plan, preferring to pay out of pocket. Haven’t had a problem with tickets since it was within 14 days of first use.

how do the magic bands work if I stay at say POFQ for two nights, do our cruise, and then stay at POP for 3 nights? I know I can buy a 6 day park hopper with the first reservation but do they just link by second resort to my magic band when I get back from the cruise? Just curious

Just decline your second set of magic bands. You can do this online. Your first set will work just fine. If you have been to Disney in the few years, your magic bands used from previous trips are still activated, so you don’t need need magic bands each time. You can actually get too many “activated” bands per guest and it makes them not work. Happened to my daughter and her current band at the park wouldn’t work. She had 15 activated bands for herself from previous trips! :jawdrop:So now we decline the new bands and make sure only the one we are currently using is activated.
