Need help Planning

We are thinking of doing a Disney/Universal trip around the 4th of May next year. Does anyone know if this is a good time to go in terms of weather and crowds?

Also, last time we stayed at the pop century, but we were thinking of upgrading to a moderate this time and staying at the French Quarter. Is this a good choice? Also, does anyone have a tip on which rooms are more quiet at this resort without being too far away from the food court/busses?

Also, what is the best way to get to universal studios without using a rental car?

There will be 3 of us, myself, DH, and DD. Our daughter will be 7 1/2 at the time. Our first and only trip so far was in August 2011. We stayed at Pop Century. Now we are looking for a time that will hopefully not be as hot, crowded, or rainy.

And any other helpful tips would be great as well.

I've been going to WDW the first week in May for over ten years. IMO, it's one of the best times of year to go. After May 15 tends to get very hot and humid, but I've enjoyed excellent weather and manageable crowds during the first week. It's also during the Flower & Garden Festival, so Epcot is at its most attractive.

Can't be much help with resort advice unless it's a DVC resort, I always rent a car, and I have no kids, so not much help there either. But I do consider myself an expert on "beginning of May" travel. ;) I believe you will certainly have a better experience than you did in August.

That's our tentative week for next year as well! Easter falls on April 20th, so I figure that rush will be over by the first week of May, even though it is much later than Easter fell this year. From everything I've read, it looks like a great week to go.

May can be hot and humid. It can be cool. But it is usually warm to hot without all that August humidity and rain. Can't predict weather, though, so don't blame me if it rains or whatever. :). It's a BEAUTIFUL day today!!! :D

Any hotel you want to make your home base is a good one, IMO. But POFQ is my default mod until they fix those cartoon rooms at CBR. :) POFQ is pleasant and generally quiet. A smidge romantic at night and kind of bright without being garish during the day. You can walk over to POR for their food court, if you're feeling up to that, which I doubt...but both places are nice for walking. I sometimes go there just to walk. :)

I don't know about specific rooms, but I do like a view of the river. :)

Scroll down to the Uni section to find advice on transportation to Uni. Me, I'd rent a cheap car. But Mears runs a shuttle that is less than $20/person. http://www.mearstransportation.com/global/orlando/ Sometimes Uni runs deals where you can buy tickets and get the shuttle for free. If you get a travel agent (which is free!) they can better help with that.

Have a great trip!!

One Little Spark...
Luv summed it up well.

French Quarter is also very small...smallest resort on property, so you really aren't that far away from anything, nomatter which room you get.
