The benches at the Mk station are ideal. Arrive early and position them up by the railings. I don't know of anywhere else that this can be done as barnum42 states, people will stand in front.

My past experiances have been that the view is great and the crowds are much thinner from behind the castle rather than in front or along Main Street.

Last year we viewed from an area between Dumbo The Flying Elephant and Mad Tea Party and had a great view of all the fireworks and the crowd was very light.

I find the best play to watch the fireworks is either standing in the middle of Main Street USA or right in the area were the Walt & Mickey Statue is.

I nearly always sit on the ground just behind and to the left of the partners statue. Always room, even on the busiest of days, and a great view.

My favorite spot is on the bridge between Tomorrowland and the center of the park. At one point along this bridge there is a tree. Position yourself so that this tree is blocking your view of the castle, and then take a few paces towards Tomorrowland. You don't need to be able to see the castle to see the fireworks -- from this angle, the fireworks will be to the right as you look at the castle. The only bad thing about this spot is that the lights shining on the water under the bridge are not turned off.

I would avoid the corresponding spot on the left side of the park, between Adventureland and the center. From this location, the fireworks are to the left of the castle, and a lot of them are obscured by trees.

Another good spot is right outside the Crystal Palace. However, the lights are not turned off here, and foot traffic appears to flow throughout the show. Also, you can't see Tinkerbell from here.

I also found out very recently that you can see a lot of Wishes from the ferry terminal at the Transportation and Ticket Center. You obviously can't see Tink here, and some of the lower effects will not be visible, but you can see a lot more than you'd expect. Plus (at least when I was there last week) they piped the soundtrack to the area. I wouldn't recommend this for your first or only time seeing the show. But after you've seen it once, I think you will want to see it again, and this is a good way to avoid having to deal with the crowds, or even having to enter the MK.
