Need advice on the Polynesian Luau

Our family loves Ohana's.. and we are doing the hoop dee doo during our next vacation.. but we have an open night at the end of trip that I was looking to fill with the Polynesian Luau dinner show.

Is this a good idea or a mistake?

How does it compare to Ohana's? Is the show any good? Is there good music or a good ending?

Any details would be appreciated!

Its just me and my wife along with both of our moms going.. and it will be in March.

I heard mixed reviews.. so we really can't decide on it.

My lovely wife and I went on our Honeymoone. The dinner portion was good and the food was tasty. We did not stay for the whole show.

I personally liked Hoop-de-doo better.

I think the food used to be better at Ohana, but the show is worth it at the Luau. If I recall, the Luau also included drinks. We have not been to Ohana since they changed the menu, so I am not sure it that is the case anymore. If I recall, I read they did away with the shrimp skewers and added a shrimp appetizer. I think I read that they also added bread pudding instead of pinneapple for dessert.

I've had nothing but good reports lately. It seems to have picked up and is an enjoyable experience. I say give it a try... all the restaurants are worth doing at least once :) Have fun!!

Awww, you called me lovely....:o

Anyway, I did enjoy the luau but we didn't stay for the whole show because we were pretty tired from our day at the park.

I have been going since before the show and food changed and I have always enjoyed it. It is not something we do every year but we go every few years. Last time was 2004 right when it changed to the Spirit of Aloha show and the food was good and the show was entertaining. There are mixed reviews and we have been to some real Luaus in Hawaii (not the fake ones put on by resorts in Hawaii) and the show at the Polynesian has authentic dance. I did not see a single person around us who did not ask for more of the food.

When it comes to things that get such mixed reviews I think you have to just try it for yourself. It would be one thing if everyone just said it was horrible but there are many who have said they enjoy the food and show so try it for your self and you will know if you ever want to go back. I suggest the earlier show. After a long hard day of the parks the later show can drag on.

Here is some info on the show.
