i'm putting this out front...

WARNING!!!!

the following post will probably be depressing... read at your own risk....

ok... i'm guessing that you decided to risk it and read the rest....

it's been a VERY ROUGH couple of weeks...

during this time I have found out that my grandma had a stroke and is in the hospital. she'll be in there for a while going through recovery.

my mom has been diagnosed, for the 4th time, with cancer. this time it's on her liver and her oncologist believes that there isn't much that can be done. she'll have another appointment tomorrow to find out for sure.

a dear friend of mine, that lived way up in Washington state, passed away. wasn't able to go to the funeral.

then I find out, yesterday, that another guy I know died recently. probably suicide....

so, yeah, it's been extremely rough and the only thing that has been keeping me grounded is trying to stay focused on our upcoming trip to wdw in September... man, it's so far off and I could really use some of that magic right now!

this upcoming trip is going to be a special one too in that my 2 grandnieces are going and it will be their 1st time to wdw. they are 2 and 3 years old. also, my girlfriend is coming with us and she'll be celebrating her birthday during the time we're there...

my folks are also coming with and I can't help but think that this may be my mom's last visit to wdw... she loves wdw and I know that i got my love for wdw from her....

*sighs*..... sorry if I've depressed anyone.... this trip is definitely going to be a memorable one.....

wish we were going now... could really use the break from all of this "reality"....

So sorry to hear the state of things in your house. It seems like when it rains it pours. Don't know why bad things happen in multiples but it seems like they always pile on. Praying for you that you start to see brighter days ahead. Try not to focus on the "last trip " thing and make it the BEST TRIP EVER for all of you. Go out and do it up by planning in some special treats and surprise everyone with something unexpected. See you there in SEPT.

just an update....

my mom went up to ku med center to talk to another oncologist about how things are and options...

they told her the same thing. the only thing they can do is give her some aggressive chemo treatments that would only help her get a couple of years. they also found another spot on her lungs that they believe to be cancer too. it's pretty much spreading...

so, she opted for the treatments. a total of 6 treatments where she'll have to have to take 1 treatment every 3 weeks. my guess is injecting chemo directly into the tumors. anyway, it will total out to 18 weeks... which cuts right into our wdw trip....

now, I know, my mom will still want to go on the trip and will make sure that the treatment is scheduled either before or after we get back. however, chemo takes a lot out of a person and i'm not sure just how much she'll be able to do and enjoy while there....

so, if anyone out there has any ideas on how I can help make it special for her please let me know. it would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

oh, and I plan on making a special ptr/trip report on this one....

I don't know what type of chemo she'll have, but I know that what my dad had left him so weak there is no way we would have even considered such a trip at that time. I know that's hard to hear, but you really need to rethink all this.

Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I would consider making sure that you have a wheelchair reserved for your mom's use during the trip for Sept. I know there are some "Disney" approved rental places that can set you up with necessary equipment right to your resort. Cherish each and every day you have your mom and grandma! Remember to enjoy each and every day that you have because we are never promised tomorrow.

Try to have a relaxing trip and have fun and enjoy each others company. Maybe you could plan some days in the shade at your resort and enjoy the wonderful environment. Eat at places you have never been to and allow time for resting. Praying for you and your family I am sorry you are experiencing such hard times. Disney is the best place to escape reality even if its just temporary.
