According to Twitter, today is indeed National Roller Coaster Day and to celebrate this occasion, I figured I'd post 2 of my favorite coasters of all time.

What say you?

I can never decide which coaster I like the best at WDW--I like all of them. Outside of WDW, I like the old, classic, Yankee Cannonball, up at Canobie Lake Park in N.H.

I hate Roller Coasters. I will ride only the calmer ones at Disney, the ones that I know are probably well maintained due to the depth of Disney's pockets, and not as extreme. I have ridden, repeatedly, all of them at Disney. No others anywhere. I do not like the feeling of my heart stuck in my throat. Call me crazy. If you were allowed into a park with a gun, you still couldn't convince me to ride a wooden coaster that has been sitting out in the weather for years. Wood rots. Metal rusts, but there are fewer pieces to inspect.

Oh, but wooden coasters are so much fun! Well-inspected, completely safe. I road the Comet in Hershey Park a few weeks ago. Built in the 1940s, smoother than some newer coasters. You just should ignore the cobwebs that formed as you go up the first hill...

As for number 1 - That is easy, The Beast at night. What was once the "Biggest, Baddest, Longest. Fastest wooden coaster in the world" is simply amazing in the dark. Throw in a light drizzle of rain and you basically have the coaster God was planning on that 8th day. . .

Number 2 would be The Beast during the day. . . :)
