If you were allowed into a park with a gun, you still couldn't convince me to ride a wooden coaster that has been sitting out in the weather for years. Wood rots. Metal rusts, but there are fewer pieces to inspect.
I'll get my glory in other ways. I'm fine, really! No guts, no glory . . .![]()

Oh, but wooden coasters are so much fun! Well-inspected, completely safe. I road the Comet in Hershey Park a few weeks ago. Built in the 1940s, smoother than some newer coasters. You just should ignore the cobwebs that formed as you go up the first hill...I hate Roller Coasters. I will ride only the calmer ones at Disney, the ones that I know are probably well maintained due to the depth of Disney's pockets, and not as extreme. I have ridden, repeatedly, all of them at Disney. No others anywhere. I do not like the feeling of my heart stuck in my throat. Call me crazy.
