After grossing over $65 million in its first weekend, Narnia grossed over $30 million in its second weekend brining its total (in just two weeks) up to just over $113 million (just in the US). It looks as though Disney has a real winner here.

The numbers being put up compare very evenly with Lord of the Ring: Fellowship of the Rings (Like Narnia another fantasy movie which was the first in a series), which grossed $66 million its first weekend. Not to mention, in comparing first weekends, Narnia out-grossed the highly anticipated King Kong (grossing $50 million its first weekend).

That oughta make up for Disney passing on Lord of the Rings. :D

Actually, I read in Disney War that Disney still earned a small part of the profit as part of the deal which allowed LOTR to go to New Line. (I think it was 10% but I'm not positive, can anybody confirm this?)

Saw Narnia last night and was thrilled at the whole film and especially the way they portrayed things without showing too much graphic (i.e. blood, guts, killing). I am ready for the next book!!!

FOTR grossed $47m on its OW.
