Hi y'all! Ethan here--Long-time, first-time...
Though I first went to WDW back in 1984 with my grandparents, and have had several short trips over the years, I didn't really "catch the bug" until a couple years ago when my friends begged me to join them for a week during Spring Break.
They called on a Tuesday afternoon and wanted to know if I'd like to meet them at WDW. I hadn't been there for a couple years (with them, no less, but only for a single day-visit). I said "sure--when are you going?" They said "we're at the airport right now." Oy-vey. Lots of hemming & hawing later, and an approval from work, I took the rest of the week-off, booked my flight & resort and was there 22 hours later.
My friends felt bad that it cost a small fortune just to get there, and that the room was so (relatively) expensive. They offered to pay for my park tickets. They ended-up buying me an AP, figuring I'd be more likely to do more trips with them later in the year. It had the weird effect of turning me into a Disney junkie.
I've made a point to watch as many Disney movies as I can stand (still have quite a few to go, but I'm making great headway), read-up on Disney history (Walt, parks, animation, Imagineering, etc.) and try to keep current on the goings-on at the parks. All this, I figure, would increase my enjoyment of the parks even further.
Since that first trip, I've made the pilgrimage to the World five times--two trips with the friends, one with my parents, and two solo trips. I'm beginning to feel guilty about not using the remaining 3 months on my current AP before it expires in May since my next planned trip isn't till October for F&W and Epcot's 30th.
Lastly, my user name is based-on the tail "N-number" of the old Disney corporate jet, currently slumbering behind the stands of Lights, Motors, Action!
