MYW Dining Plan - Clarification Question

Hello All,
I have a dining plan question for you. I understand how the plan works as far as the allotment of table service meals, counter service meals and snacks. I also have a print out of participating restaurants and which "cost" one table service "point" and which "cost" two. My question is in regard to menu choices.

For example, ...
Lets say I am at 50's Prime Time Cafe (A 1 "point" participating restaurant). Am I correct in assuming that I can order anything from the "Starter" section of the menu as my appetizer, anything from "Mom's Dinner Family Recipes" section as my entrée, anything from "Sweet Treats" section as my desert, as well as a soda; And all that will be covered in the plan?

Basically, are there any menu restrictions or special menus when utilizing the MYW meal plan? I've read in other posts that you can't substitute, for example, a blueberry muffin as a desert. But if you stick to the menu sections as far as appetizers, entrées, deserts, etc. Is everything fair game?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

You are correct. As long as you stick to 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert and 1 non alcoholic beverage it is covered.

The best thing to do if you are concerned about whether something is covered at a certain restaurant is ask your server. For instance, some restaurants offer a milkshake as a non alcoholic beverage while some classify it as a dessert.

Also your server should be able to tell you if there are any available "add ons" such as shrimps or lobster tails (though I don't think there is at 50's Prime Time Diner) which can be included at no cost.

Another thing you can't do is order anything that's indicated that it serves more than one. Some appetizer sampler platters say, "Serves 4". That would not be included.

Servers are very helpful.

Our server at Prime Time Cafe said that milkshakes count as your beverage there. (None of us ordered one, so we didn't confirm.)

Many of the places are buffets or one-price meals anyway, so it isn't even a question there - everything goes.

Great information!

Thanks for the clarifications. We want to get as much out of the plan as possible so we want to understand it completely before we go and sit down at the table. Your replies will prove to be beneficial.

Hey Adam, I see you are new here - welcome!

You ARE making priority seating requests (PS), aren't you? Don't just wait until you get there. Your meal plan will be frustrating if you can't get in the restaurants you want.

Of course we are :) We've decided to plan this trip down to the last little detail. I think within the next two weeks we are going to decide which parks to do on which days and coordinate where to eat lunch and dinner (making PS) based on that information as well as the participating restaraunts in the plan. The best way to ensure a smooth trip, leave nothing to chance. Our trip is in October, so I think we should be ok getting the priority seatings that we want.

And thanks for the welcome! I've been checking out WDWMagic for a little over a year now just about everyday. I just haven't gotten into the habit of posting on the boards often enough. Hopefully, I'll get into it more.

Thanks All
