Mythos restaurant

We were at Universal IOA September 8th, and ate at Mythos for the first time. I have to say I was very impressed and it was as good as I thought it would be. Both my DD, 24, and I thought it was the best table service meal for lunch that we had our whole trip (at Disney 9-3 to 9-10, with Universal on the 8th)

Maybe it was because I had read too much of the hype around the restaurant, or that I was soaking wet from having gone on Bluto's earlier and the constant rain, but to be honest, I wasn't all that impressed with Mythos.

The design of the exterior is very, very cool and it intermeshes nicely with Poseiodon's Fury, but the interior just reminded me of a less extreme, rockier version of the Cheesecake Factory at the John Hancock Center, another Jordan Mozer design. Those of you who are impressed with Mythos will be blown away by that place.

The food was decent enough, but it took me a while to remember what I ate. I think it was that day's chicken pasta specialty. Perhaps there are other, better options on the menu but nothing struck me as something I had to try.

The only thing that really surprised me about the place was the bill. It's probably the most under-priced restaurant I've ever run across at a theme park. Considering we each got a full entree and a couple pre-coaster cocktails, I don't think we paid more than we would have at an Outback or some other kind of major franchise restaurant.

So, is it the best restaurant at Islands OR Studios? Definitely.
Is it the best restaurant at any themepark? Hardly. It might be the best value, but I can think of about half a dozen places offhand at World Showcase that I think have better food and atmosphere.

I've always wanted to try it but it's always closed. I finally found it once open and went in. I asked the hostess what time they were open till and she didn't know. While I was looking over the menu the manager came up to the hostess and told her not to take any more guests and that they were going to close. Seems like a nice place just wish they were open or at least had posted hours so I could figure out when to go.
