MyMagic+/Fastpass Question

Hi, I have a friend who will be visiting Disney World in late November, early December. It's their very first time going, and I was trying to help them out with any questions they had, but since I hadn't been to Disney while the whole Mymagic+ thing has been taking place, I wasn't sure how that changed things. The person is visiting Magic Kingdom, and is a relative of a person performing at Disney.

I was curious if fastpass still operated the same way it had, or if the conversion has happened where you have to have the wristband, something I doubt the person will have?

The person is not staying at a Disney resort. Do they still have or use the fastpass machines at all?

Thank you ahead of time to any one who responds. :)

Currently FastPass+ is in testing for WDW resort guests only. Regular FP is still in operation for all guests. It will likely still be that way in late November.

Thank you, for the speedy reply. I guess the whole Mymagic+ thing confuses me, since I haven't seen it in action. While they are in test phase, can resort guests (even guests with the wristbands) still use the old methods of fastpass? Thank you once again.

Guests with wristbands (which are only resort guests at the moment) have to obtain a keycard from their hotel in order to use traditional FP, but yes they can use it (for the time being). The traditional FP machines are not compatible with the bands, so the guest would have to have cards. However, the new RFID KTTW cards ARE compatible with FP+, so they don't need to carry the bands and the cards to use FP+.

So, I have not bought the park tickets yet for the travelers in my party...just paid the air off...and without valid park tickets or AP linked to my account I can't do the FP+, is that correct ? But as of now we can still plan on using the regular FP for things like TS Mania , etc.... ? My travel dates are 11/21-12/2.

Yes. That's correct. You have to have a resort reservation and a ticket.

Correct. Each member you are trying to reserve FP+ for needs to have a valid ticket linked to their account. And you will only be able to make reservations for as many days as they have valid on the ticket.
